    menu drop down over a select box

    How can I resolve the problem of the menu drop down over a select box in IE. The select box is always on top of the drop down even though there’s a z-index on the drop down menu. I don’t use ul and li for the dropdown menu I use images and onmouseout and onmouseover events

    the dropdown is in a file with .jspf extension

    Here’s the admin picture

    Code:
    <c:if test='${bean.showAdmin==true }'>

        <td width="65"><a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore();MM_showHideLayers('admin','','hide')" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image5','','images/admin_on.gif',1);MM_showHideLayers('admin','','show')"><img src="images/admin_off.gif" name="Image5" width="65" height="22" border="0"></a></td>

    </c:if>

    Here’s my div that contains the dropdown menu

    Code:
    <div id="admin" style="position:absolute; left:547px; top:25px; width:136px; height:106px; z-index:3; visibility: hidden;">

      <table width="136" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">

        <tr>

          <td height="20"><a href="javascript:;" onmouseover="MM_showHideLayers('admin','','show')" onmouseout="MM_showHideLayers('admin','','hide')"><img src="images/trans.gif" width="136" height="20" border="0"></a></td>

        </tr>

        <tr>

          <td height="15"><a href="#" onClick="NavBar.gotoScreen('/admin.do',true,true)" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore();MM_showHideLayers('admin','','hide')" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image33','','images/maintenance_on.gif',1);MM_showHideLayers('admin','','show')"><img src="images/maintenance_off.gif" name="Image33" width="136" height="15" border="0"></td>

        </tr>

        <tr>

          <td height="15"><a href="#" onClick="NavBar.gotoScreen('<%=Action.USER_MGMT%>',true,true)" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore();MM_showHideLayers('admin','','hide')" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image34','','images/useradmin_on.gif',1);MM_showHideLayers('admin','','show')"><img src="images/useradmin_off.gif" name="Image34" width="136" height="15" border="0"></a></td>

        </tr>

        <tr>

          <td height="15"><a href="#"  onClick="NavBar.gotoScreen('/recoveryratelist.do',true,true)" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore();MM_showHideLayers('admin','','hide')" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('RecoveryStandardImg1','','images/recoverystandard_on.gif',1);MM_showHideLayers('admin','','show')"><img src="images/recoverystandard_off.gif" name="RecoveryStandardImg1" width="136" height="15" border="0"></a></td>

        </tr>

        <tr>

          <td height="25"><a href="#"  onClick="NavBar.gotoScreen('/adjustmentlist.do?method=adjustmentList',true,true)" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore();MM_showHideLayers('admin','','hide')" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('BldLseAdjustmentImg1','','images/bldg_lease_level_adj_on.gif',1);MM_showHideLayers('admin','','show')"><img src="images/bldg_lease_level_adj_off.gif" name="BldLseAdjustmentImg1" width="136" height="25" border="0"></a></td>

        </tr>

        <tr>

          <td height="15"><a href="<%=changePasswordLink + returnURL%>" target="_new" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore();MM_showHideLayers('admin','','hide')" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image35','','images/change_password_on.gif',1);MM_showHideLayers('admin','','show')"><img src="images/change_password_off.gif" name="Image35" width="136" height="15" border="0"></a></td>

        </tr>

        <tr>

          <td height="9"><img src="images/btm_nav.gif" width="136" height="9"></td>

        </tr>

      </table>

    </div>
    the other page contains the select box with a .jspf extension too

    Code:
    <td><input:emptySelect name="OA_VERSION_ID" style="width:120;" load="OAHEADER.buildSelect(this.elId);" disabled="true"/></td>
                <td align="right"><span class="label" label=""></span>

    please if anyone can help me with that problem, i would be grateful. thank you

    This issue can't be solved by z-index setting..
    This is a wel known bug on IE and you won't find any solution to this. Instead, try advise your clients to upgrade to IE7. The bug was fixed on this version.
