    Header breaking in Firefox

    Hi,

    The header on this page:

    Works fine in IE but viewed in firefox, opera and netscape its very broken, can anyone tell me why this is happening?

    well I would start by validating the page and fixing all the errors there ... I did it and there are 280 seperate errors some of them pretty substantial..

    You have to remember that most browsers go by the strict letter of the doctype you use on your page and they will blow up big time if the errors are substantial enough .... IE kind of guesses at what you meant and sometimes gets it right..

    It is better to test more modern, advanced standards-compliant browsers first and then fix it to work in everything else.

    The problem with this is that most of the errors relate directly to invision board and if you look at the bulk of them they dont relate to the 10-12 lines of code that make or in this case break the header.

    I am not about to start rewriting invision to make it compliant!

    The code you are using for the header doesn't make sense to me, I added comments to demonstrate this:
    PHP Code:
    <table  width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
    <!--
    You can just put a div tag in a tableit has to appear in a table grid (ieput it in thtdetc. -->
    <
    div id='logostrip'>
        <
    div id='logostripinner'>
            <!--
    You have </atherewhy? -->
        <
    div id='logographic'><!-- No Content --></div></a>
        </
    div>

    </
    table
    <!--
    You never closed you logostrip DIV tagis this intentional -->
    <
    div id="ipbwrapper">
    <
    div id='navstrip' align='left'><img src='style_images/test/nav.gif' border='0'  alt='&gt;' />&nbsp;<a href='http://www.ww2talk.com/index.php?amp;act=idx'>World War 2 Talk</a></div>

    <
    br />
    <
    table width="100%" id="userlinksguest" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0">
    <
    tr>
            <
    td><strong>Welcome Guest</strong> ( <a href='http://www.ww2talk.com/index.php?amp;act=Login&amp;CODE=00'>Log In</a> | <a href='http://www.ww2talk.com/index.php?amp;act=Reg&amp;CODE=00'>Register</a> )</td>
            <
    td align='right'>    </td></tr>

     </
    table
    As you can see, the code doesn't really match up at all. Invalid table is probably you're problem, and the non-closing div tag may also cause some problems.

    In general, the page is no-where near XHTML compliant. You have a mix between <br /> and <BR> scattered all over the places. I doubt this is caused by invision board, but rather the template you are using.

    Good Luck
