    Finding host server settings

    This may seem off topic but bear with me.

    I'm trying to include some ssi shtml includes in my current project (I normally use PHP which is so much easier) and have tried the usual
    Code HTML4Strict:
    <!--#include virtual="includetest2.html" -->
    In various configurations to no avail.

    I am trying to figure out if my host has this disabled and was wondering if there was a technique for checking the server info like a html version of PHPINFO()

    any thoughts comments guidance etc would be much v appreciated

    It is very simple for SSI since there are only two possible settings - enabled or disabled.

    If your <!--#include virtual="includetest2.html" --> call works then it is enabled. If it doesn't work then it is disabled.

    I assume you are giving the pages a .shtml extension since that is the only value that is likely to be enabled by default. You can update the .htaccess file to enable it for different extensions if it is enabled and you prefer not to use .shtml
