Welcome to the forums, @MarcChoyt.

Fortunately, Google makes it very easy for you to find out the rules, by publishing very full and clear guidelines. I suggest you start with their “Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide” and also the Webmaster Guidelines.

It isn’t too hard, just takes alot of time and following that guide is a great way to start. If I were to break it down in a short explanation I would say this.

Having high quality sites link back to your website, but spamming tons of links will hurt you. Adding unique content to your website often, as well as creating social media accounts that are relevant are also things you should be doing over time, because google likes to see unique content.

Those are 2 of the main ways, basically do anything you can to show google your page is relevant, and make sure to target your keywords such as “drug addiction”.

Just to be clear here, the question is about SEO, and while social media may well help with traffic and general promotion, it will not help in SEO.

Google’s job is to return relevant webpages based on the user search. If you want google to return your pages for a search term e.g ‘Bicycling in France’ your page should contain content about ‘Bicycling in France’ and related terms to bicycling and France. If you start writing about everything else and only mention Bicycling in France once in the opening sentence, then unsurprisingly they won’t rank you for that term. Or if you try and cram that term everywhere when the page isn’t about that then they still won’t rank you for it.

Do all the simple things well and you will more up the lists. Make sure your pages are relevant, quick and valid.

Do not try quick fixes/cheats to get to the top as they have teams of very clever people employed to stop that happening.

Google’s do not have any specific rules for anyone.
Search engine’s job to provide relevant results for user’s search query. If you research about your user base who may interested in your business products or services and work according to that and provide right information(Content) you will be there in search results.
Backlinks are also one of the major part to work on other than content.
Try to build up or earn links from authoritative sites, Google consider it as ranking factor.

So what do you consider the Webmaster Guidelines (which I linked to in post #2) to be?

Hey MarcChoyt,

Google did not really set rules to anyone. It is more of - if your site is visited more and people engage more on your website, it gets higher ranking compared to others.

Some of the ways you could to improve your SEO that I could say at the top of my head are the ff:

  • Social Media - you can try and make your page popular and this will greatly help with your off page SEO. Some of the social media platforms you can utilize are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Youtube, and etc. It is a lot better now, as you can also use some social media management tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social and the likes where you can schedule posts to go out automatically at a defined time and date.

  • Blogging - this is another informative may to improve your SEO, hence garnering more people in your Website.

  • Forums - this is also another thing you can do to get your SEO up - you mat set up your own forum, and put in topics depending on what your products are and it will engage more people to get to your website which is one of the main reasons you’d wanna get to improve the Search Engine Optimization of your website.

I hope this helps a bit.

Cheerios!

Welcome to the forums, @jellybeansfaery. We’re glad to have your contribution, but please take time to read a topic in full before posting. Some of your points have already been covered, and we prefer not to keep going over the same ground.

Visitor numbers have no effect on SEO. How could they? How would Google know how many visitors your site gets, beyond those which visit from their search engine?

Yes, they did. They have very clear guidelines which you need to follow if you want to rank well. See post #2.

As explained above,

Most social media sites, including those in your list, mark user-submitted links as nofollow, in accordance with Google’s guidelines.

As with social media, most reputable forums (like this one) mark user-submitted links nofollow. Depending on the forum, trying to use it for promotional purposes may result in your account being banned. Google also warns against excessive use of forum links (and other low-quality links): https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66356?hl=en Again, you may get traffic from forum participation (if your contributions are useful and make people want to learn more about you and/or your business) but they are not much use for SEO.

Traffic will not consider in seo by google, Google have some rules and regulations - we can follow that in our website. Google do not support any type of guaranteed result.

Doing SEO is not a simple job.its a very dificult to improve a site through seo links.and also it will take more time to chatch those links.

That is very true, because what matters most is the content of the site.

This question is about SEO within Google’s guidelines. I strongly suggest that all those who are still recommending “link building” as a “solution” take time to read Google’s “Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide” and https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66356?hl=en, because they are peddling long out-of-date “advice”.

A strategic link building with proper form gains better link building. You need to do google updates and SEO updates which make you perfect actionable SEO.

The question is about SEO within Google’s guidelines. Google is quite clear that links which you place with the intention of manipulating ranking are against its guidelines, and may lead to your site being penalised.

I’ve no idea what you mean by that. Updates which Google makes to its algorithm are designed either to improve search results for those searching, or to help weed out those sites which are trying to manipulate rankings. If you are following their guidelines, you should have nothing to worry about from either.

Again, I’m unclear what you mean by that. However, I will agree that it’s important to follow current guidelines. The basic advice from Google has not changed for a long time, yet many self-styled experts continue to advocate long-out-of-date practices such as link-building.

" A strategic link building with proper form gains better link building. "
means that if you are doing link building, change your work oper day link first-day directory submission and second day do content post and nest day work another. this is my strategy.

" You need to do google updates "
means that if google changed its link building, searching algorithm and other changes that affect in SEO and website.
