You seem not to have read the Google guidelines I linked to above.
Creating links to your own site is at best a waste of time, because Google gives them no credence, and at worst may result in your site being penalised for participating in link schemes.
(Reputable sites such as this one follow Google’s guidelines and mark user-submitted links as nofollow, so they will have no effect on your SEO, positive or negative.)
As I said, updates to Google’s algorithms should not require any action on your part, if you are already following their guidelines. (The rare exceptions to that are for things like their changes to mobile search, but at that requires changes to site structure and design, I would not regard it as an “SEO” task.)
Of that list, blogging might help, depending om how you’re doing it, amd the quality of your writing. The others are at best a waste of time, and at worst a violation of search engine guidelines on using links to manipulate ranking.
To all posters: please take time to read the whole topic before replying, and refrain from repeating what has already been said.
Any posts simply listing tasks or repeating bad advice already refuted in this topic will be removed as fluff.
If you have a recent reputable source - e.g. Google or Bing - to back up your point of view against something already stated, then feel free to post it, but unsubstantiated claims are of no use in a debate.
