SSL Certificates ... which is the best?

I’m looking for a good and affordable SSL Certificate for an ecommerce site. I’d like to know your opinions on what you think is the best SSL Cert out there (keeping cost in mind).

Thank you
Ron

Personally, I don’t think it matters all that much. Find a cheap one and go for it (ex. godaddy or through your host). More often security issues are from the software running the site, not the ssl.

Check out Which SSL for some statistics / information.

You can also try Rapid SSL http://www.rapidssl.com/

The only thing I would caution on is getting an SSL Certificate from a place that is “too cheap”.

The SSL certificate is only as good as the signer of the certificate, so if the signer you use is too sketchy then some browsers will not accept it.

Just make sure browser recognition is 99%+

NameCheap has some bargains on certificates. If I remember correctly, you get a free certificate when you buy a domain.

I would also give RapidSSL the nod.

Keep in mind that 999 out of a 1000 users won’t be able to tell the difference between brand X vs brand Y. All they are looking for is the padlock in their browser address bar.
