Hi I have hired some contractors to go an blast links out to non relevant site’s, am I helping or hindering my SEO efforts?
It’s highly unlikely to do you any good, and could well hurt you in the rankings.
Search engines look at the context of the link - where it is from and to, and also what it thinks about the page that it’s on. If you’ve got a spammer (let’s not beat about the bush, that’s exactly what you’re doing) sending links out anywhere and everywhere, then firstly, any non-relevant site that accepts them is likely to be a “dodgy neighbourhood” (ie untrustworthy) and so Google will treat their outbound links with the contempt that they deserve. Secondly, Google learns what your site is about not only by what is on your site, but also the links pointing to it from elsewhere - if you’ve got links to your site on thousands of other sites that have no connection at all to your site or each other, Google isn’t going to know what your site is about.
Do the web a favour, recall your spammer immediately, and concentrate on (a) writing some good quality content that people will want to link to without needing to be asked, and (b) only asking for links from relevant websites where real people might be interested in following the links.
Hi yeah, I have said not to spam… I have asked for all forums or blogs that there going to post to be joined and have the user/pass sent to me so that I can post.
There posting on all the social bookmarking sites/free directories.
Decent PR non relevant forums where you can sign up and be included in there list of members with a dofollow link to my site.
So you think this will hurt my PR1 site? At the moment I have no links…
All the links which are placed in a wrong context then there is no use of it.Just try to get he links on the very relevant place.
ok ok hehe I’m calling off the spammers!! I will get the out there searching for relavent links then reporting them back to me
actualy what do you think of this, one of my competitors sites. <snip/> now there are spammy links as there top5 links, Im not so sure that getting links on PR4+ non relavent sites is a bad thing
Yeah its hard in SEO these days then… If you are working your way up to being a real market player and want search traffic then I guess you just have to give google adwords money… I have links from Symantec(probably robot txt’d now), got it from Paul and Angelas hehe maybe Microsoft and USAToday have some dofollow links somewhere on there sites…
My strategy now will be to find all the sites that backlink to my competitors and try to get links on these same sites.
Could anyone give me some url’s of tools useful to find out what backlinks are most valuable to my competitors?
I’m using magestic SEO at the moment
hi this opensiteexplorer site is all that i think I need thanks a lot
You need to get natural and authentic links, you will be making it worse for yourself as google will recognise what you are doing, post links of sites that are relevant to what you do.
It will most likely not help you at least long term. Short term, it may improve your rankings but Google will probably find out anyway soon and penalize your site.
If possible, links to your site should be relevant to your niche.
This sounds to me: I have hired someone to sell my products outside my country. I don’t ship outside the country!
I could help you … but I don’t think to much.
I only post in good forums with alexa ranks that way I can drive traffic and then post in high pr blogs. Article directories and social networking sites.
Yeah actualy trying to get traffic from the posts is the go, what I do these days is get my guys to sign up the accounts then I post with something relevant
Well, this is embarrassing but I’d like to share this experience anyway. I tried planting links to non relevant sites before. Did hundreds of it. And guess what I get? nothing. This strategy could have been effective back in 2001 but not today. Google’s algorithm have been so intelligent nowadays that it gives exclusive favor to sites which links to relevant sites.
Yeah I dont think it helps very much… Im just looking for related sites now.
What do people think of having a dofollow link on this forum “SEO Services” It should help for a seo person?
Yea…It’s probably not going to help. Google’s just wayy too smart now!

Raven Tools also has some great tools for managing back link campaigns. It may be worth looking into.
I think the best thing to do would be to stick to posting links only in those websites that are relevant to your niche. Random posting just for the sake of better density in posting links does no good.
