Backlinks

How can I increase Google Backlinks?

Create pages with your links of web 2.0 sites like squidoo & hubpages.
Build blogs on all of the free blog platforms out there with your links embeedded (services like blogger and wordpress.com).
Submit to directories.
Build links on relevant forums.
Submit articles to article websites.
Comment on relevant blogs with your relevant blog.
Email webmasters of relevant sites and ASK for a link!

There’s a million ways to get your link out there, just gotta do a bit of exploring

This is why I love forums so much. I want all my competitors to come and learn how to spam from you. They can do what you suggest and I can spend my time on what actually makes a difference.

I’m sorry, what!?

I didn’t mention anything about spamming. I’m not talking about using bots that join hundreds of forums and auto-post spammy “buy viagra” threads. I’m simply referring to joining a few quality and relevant forums to your niche, contributing to them and adding your site link to your profile or signature. And trust me, if you do it right, it definitely makes a difference.

huh? Everything you listed is spamming!!!

Lol dude, sorry… but you’re wrong.

Sites like Squidoo and Hubpages not only allow you to add a link to your content but encourage it.

There’s nothing wrong with creating a content rich blog on Blogger or Wordpress and then adding your link to it.

Directories exist for the soul purpose of… wait for it… WEBSITE SUBMISSIONS!

Forums wouldn’t have a “signature” or “profile link” section if you WEREN’T allowed to add a relevant link.

Article sites definitely allow and encourage you to add a link in the footer of your articles… it’s win-win, they get content and you get a link.

Comments on blogs are only spam if it you’re not actually contributing anything, find relevant blogs, read the full posts and reply with your opinion or feedback on the matter with your link embedded.

Link exchanges are common practice and… well I can’t really see how they are spam at all?

Sorry mate but I definitely think there’s a big different between contributing and spamming.

You are a spammer!

Sites like Squidoo and Hubpages not only allow you to add a link to your content but encourage it.
Thats spamming.

Thats black hat spam!

Apart from a few key directories that a total waste of time.

Forums wouldn’t have a “signature” or “profile link” section if you WEREN’T allowed to add a relevant link.
Abusing other peoples web properties is spam.
Article sites definitely allow and encourage you to add a link in the footer of your articles… it’s win-win, they get content and you get a link.
Nope. Thats spam too. It also pollute the web with more crap.

Comments on blogs are only spam if it you’re not actually contributing anything, find relevant blogs, read the full posts and reply with your opinion or feedback on the matter with your link embedded.
Thats the worse kind. Doing that is parasitic.

Link exchanges are common practice and… well I can’t really see how they are spam at all?
Spam too. Its useless as well

Are your sites so bad that this is the only way you can get links to it? I happy for my competitors to do all this.

You need to read a lot of other threads here. SitePoint has more real SEO’s here that actually know what they are doing than the scammers as places like DigitalPointless and the spammers at places like Warrior Forum

C’mon man, at least give some reasoning behind your arguments… it’s a bit silly (and totally unhelpful) to simply say “THAT’S SPAMMING!!”.

Lets have a look at your advice:

So your advice is to do a Google search for “Build Backlinks”?.. super helpful.

Okay then lets take your advice and see what pops up…

Site #1 suggests directories, forums, articles and link exchanges…
Site #2 recommends guest posting, blog comments, social bookmarks and forum signatures…

I’d go through the rest but I already know what I’ll find… more recommendations for the exact techniques I mentioned.

I think it’s pretty silly to simply run around labelling everyone using a technique that you don’t use or like as a “spammer” and the methods as “useless”… I firmly believe that you can provide value AND build links at the same time.

Spamming is defined as messages that are unsolicited, none of my contributions are unsolicited, they’re all relevant, provide content for the sites and value to the user… it’s win-win-win.

The reasoning is pretty simple. Google don’t want anyone doing anything manipulate their SERP for higher rankings right? They want pages to earn their rankings, they want genuine quality to float to the top. So, anytime you do anything that you wouldn’t do if there were no search engines (most of your list of linkbuilding techniques) or that doesn’t help your users (the rest of your list) then you’re ‘spamming’ their index.

Here’s the thing though, it works, and if you don’t care what google think (and why would you?) and you benefit in some way from building links in the ways you described, then why shouldn’t you do it.

CBP, I get your point dude but at the end of the day google is a product not a birth right and if people choose to try and fill it with crap that’s their choice just like it’s your choice not to. Let google worry about it, it’s their problem not yours. If I were going to advise people not to build links in the way that Jay described it would simply be because it’s not a very resilient link profile and might not survive the next google slap, it’s just not good long term SEO.

It’s the same kind of advice I would have given for such a lazy OP who can’t do their own research or is probably just spamming the forum… the irony huh… :stuck_out_tongue:

As said, it works, but it only works right now. You run the risk of spending a lot of time doing the things listed, and then Google deciding that because it now deems your site to have performed illicit activities to get its rank you shouldn’t rank any more. This is what grinds my gears with SEO, rather than the fact that it’s deemed spam. If you run a website there’s far more important things you could be doing to improve your standing.

I doubt you’ll get much from this now, and Google will come down hard on this within the next couple of months. A waste of time.

This is something my current employer does, and it doesn’t work. We’ve even written some boilerplate content for these pages, so at worst they’re sales pages, but they’ve offered next to no real benefit for us.

Again, as the page your link will reside on will either be of low quality or be festering with dozens of bad links you’ll get very little benefit from this. By all means do it, but in the time it takes you to do this you could improve your content or spend more time on a social media campaign; whatever works in your target market.

This may be my bias showing, but this NEVER works. Links are either nofollow, or they are removed pretty quickly. Spam is where forums are starting to lag behind, and quite frankly this is the worst thing you can possibly do.

Again, something we used to do at my current employer, and something we were burned pretty badly for doing.

Luckily, we have a large team of content writers, and most of our articles were of redeeming quality. Now we host our own articles and they bring in loads more visitors.

As a one-time blogger, I can say with some certainty that your posts will either be deleted, flagged as spam or will be left to rot on a page with at least another fifty people wanting to peddle their wares.

Out of interest, have you ever done this?

I actually did this once when at my previous employer, purely after noticing that our competitors strongest links were from universities. The company ran a service that would be of great use to nearby educational facilities, and as we had locations all around the world I got emailing. I sent out a number of emails to universities, and only a few got back. However, one of these universities linked to us and the relationship grew to an extent that the company offer a discount to people arriving on conferences and all business is pushed through that company.

This probably worked because the company is quite large, and we were dealing with large institutions. However, if you’re pushing a crappy blog on a slightly less crappy blog you’ll probably not get far.

Buy backlinks on fiverr, use a program like SENukeX or linkwheel bandit, or create your own. There’s nothing unique about Google backlinks.

Backlink is inward link to your site that may or may not be reciprocated with a outward link back.Backlink are inward link to a website or webpages. The backlink could be from entirely different domain, or it could be web page in your sub domain.

Thanks for your post. I have been searching for hours for this awesome information. Your post has saved me much time.
