The products are pretty specialised, i don’t see how they are going to find all these relevant links each month.

The question is one of how much revenue that would generate for you and since they won’t guarantee anything you need to establish how good they are yourself. Ask for proof of results, speak to former customers, basically establish their credentials before spending that much money with them.
If they’re for real then yes, those numbers are in the right ball park for good SEO.
