I was recently approach by an offshore link building and SEO company. I have avoided using link builders in the past, instead educating clients in the importance of generating linkable content and inviting back links in a managed way.
However, I am keen to improve PR and traffic numbers for a client. A company I have talked with has suggested numbers of:]
Number of links Cost(in US$)
25 200
50 350
100 600
150 750
200 800
Further negotiation has brought us to 20 links @ 80GBP.
I have no problem with ‘paying’ for results. My thoughts are that these inbound links will probably be of limited quality and their effect short lived.
The company do state a long term, monitored and high quality link approach and provide facts and figures and examples.
But my question is this - does this sort of link building strategy have any merit these days?
and just to add, do not run the trial on your real website, rather build a new blog or an existing one that doesn’t have any value for you. Things might get wrong, and you just don’t want that to happen with your site.
Thanks guys, your thoughts very much echo my own. As I am constantly receiving offers from these types of firms there comes a point when you wonder if there is something you’re missing.
They are sending you spam offers?
If yes, not a very good company…
Before hiring a linkbuilder, ask them to do a trial to see how is the quality of the backlinks, their PR, ect…
Because it is easy to build 1000 links if they use software and build links on low quality websites.
My personal view? That sounds as dodgy as heck. The only links that matter, in SEO terms, are those that are on relevant sites. Link farms are never relevant sites. Anyone who can guarantee getting you 200 links is pretty much guaranteed to be using link farms - how easy do you think it’s going to be to get 200 good links for someone outside your business and outside your country?
The company may state that all links will be targeted at multimillionaires who are trying to get rid of all their money, but that doesn’t mean it’s true! I would want to know a lot more about the company before signing up, and how they monitor the sites and ensure a long-term, high-quality approach.
