How to promote my Free Online Business Directory

I have free online business directory and currently approx 2300000 Alexa ranking. So can any help me to improve my site ranking. Also I recently added new section for directory link submission, so can tell me best keyword to promote my site

Well i guess the best way starting out would be paid advertising like google, bing, facebook. But for the long run build some links at some good directories that don’t accept spam websites like i guess vmoptions.com, that seems like a nice directory for a paid listing. Also write some unique content for article marketing and submit to one article directory per unique article to avoid duplicate content, a popular article directory would be ezinearticles.com, also i run an article directory and i keep a tight a ship on Spammy content.

I own a web directory too and i found that submitting to directory lists like directory critic and other types of directory lists, when you google “directory lists” will 90% of the time increase your traffic allot. But from personal experience, out of every 200 submission entries that submit to your directory, you might get one or two good sites that hasn’t spammed the description or title. Make sure you have good submission guidelines, some of the lists require that.

In terms of keywords i would recommend:

free web directory,
add websites,
website directory

There are a lot of important steps to undergo when promoting to your directory websites:

  1. Twitter Contests / Creative Hashtags.

  2. Newsletters.

  3. Facebook Marketing

  4. Google adwords etc.

  5. Do offline Marketing: TV ADVERTIZING, PRINTING PAMPLET ETC.

Thanks for reply and provide me best strategy about directory submission, can you also provide the best directory sites that not spamming my site and where I can submit my site link and article.

Best bet for you is to Google free directory lists and submit your directory to some of the results on the various pages that accept free submissions. You will get good traffic from this alone. In regards to you getting spammy submissions, there is no way in avoiding this, its gonna happen no matter where you submit your directory. One way to avoid spammy submissions is to offer a paid directory instead of a free directory, but that will mean you will have to pay for inclusions into most of the popular directory lists and also your traffic wont be as high becasue spam bots won’t bother you. Thats not to say that peolple wont pay to spam you, but at least your getting paid.

I thought pagerank was dead or at least hasn’t been updated for a long while.

Google still uses PageRank as part of its algorithm, but no longer issues public updates on PR, or shows it in Search Console.

I have seen a client that has a business directory and nothing else, its important to make sure most of your content on your site is not duplicated, you have no real guarantees if you allow people to publish it themselves, what you could do is create a blog with your own unique content to attract visitors, in order to improve rankings you need great unique content that is worthy of getting visits from search engines like Google, great content means people will link to it, getting links improves the strength of a website (good links)… Fire your great content out to the Article Directories and be busy on social networks like Facebook,Twitter & Goolge Plus would also help… Good Luck…

Why waste money buying fake traffic? What good does it do? The only worthwhile traffic is genuine traffic - visitors who come because they are genuinely interested in your site.

You may promote your online directory through making the commercial video. By this way you may gain new users and improve traffic on your site. According me, this is good alternative for SEO. Such video you may put on social network.

Perhaps you could suggest the kind of video content you have in mind here? I find it hard to picture a video which would promote an online business directory. What would it show? The video itself would also need to be promoted. Do you think it’s easier to promote a video than to promote the site itself?
