Do we need to have a blog and a website?

Do we need to have a website and a blog? Some says you need it both, some says all you need to have is a website.

Your thoughts?

I think a blog is hard work as you need to keep up dating it to keep it fresh; so the first question to ask yourself is do you have enough information/content to keep adding to a blog?

I have seen blogs start out well and after a month or so they just stop.

For me having both is essential. You can build your product or service’s image out of your blog.

Through blog you can have a closer interaction to your buyers or potential buyers. it is just like having your website as your store and your blog as your digital magazine for announcements, promos, infos, etc.

There is no single right answer – it depends too much on the nature of your business, your target audience and what resources you have to support the website.

For any vaguely professional web presence, you shouldn’t have “a website and a blog”. What you might want to do, and is quite common, is to incorporate a blog within your website … but whatever you do, don’t have them as separate entities. That’s confusing for visitors, reduces traffic across the two, and just looks clueless.

What is a blog? It’s just a regular newsletter or bulletin kind of update.

So think about your business – are you going to have something new to say every week, or every month? Is this a good channel to promote your business, or will it just end up as a load of filler? You don’t want to be writing new articles for the sake of it if you haven’t got anything worthwhile to say.

Think about your audience – are you looking for the kind of engagement from customers that gets them coming back regularly to read your latest news? Or, realistically, is that not going to happen.

How much time and effort can your business afford to put into it? For a blog to be successful, whether it’s a standalone blog or a Chairman’s Chatter page on a large corporate website, it needs to be updated regularly. That could be daily, it could be weekly, it could be monthly, although once you get to beyond that it isn’t frequent enough to have much impact. So often you’ll go to a website and there will be a blog page, and you’ll look and there were four articles posted within a couple of weeks back in 2012, then another one a few months later, and nothing since. That’s worse than not having a blog at all. Before you start, you have to be sure that you will have the time, energy and materials to keep it going for quite some time.

What he (^) says. I’m not even going to try to explain it better

Having a website makes huge difference to a business and its customers. Following are some benefits of having a website:

 1. Internet Era- As time is changing, you can see many people using internet for most of their needs. They like to reply through text messages, email etc. rather than talking on phone or replying to calls. They usually like to search online for their daily needs instead of searching in phone directories. Probably it will sound rubbish to you but business without online presence is actually invisible to large number of population.

 2. Convenience for customers- It is very convenient to find any business online as it provides the ability to look up information on our devices itself. Also you can check hours, prices, services, addresses and phone numbers on the website itself. Having that convenience is really valuable to your customers.

 3. Connect with Your Audience- You can easily connect your business with the social world. The most popular way to connect to your customer is through social media like Facebook, Twitter etc. Blog &news is the most common way to engage with the customers and allow them to leave comments or feedback.

 4. Showcase your products- A website is like having an online shop that potential customers can visit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It looks more professional. With the increase in internet users, it is becoming important for any business to have online presence.

Hope it will clear your doubt.

That’s only true if you’re contant and write quality content which is what most people struggle with.

Being constant is hard, most people get bored in a few weeks.

Quality content is easy in the first weeks but then it may be hard to find too.

You can’t be too promotional in your own blog. If you do, you will not get the results that you want. People will just say “of course he thinks his product is the best!”. If you insist too much, they will leave.

Self-promotion in a blog needs to be really subtle. Furthermore, for most people, the best promtion has been not to promote at all but educate customers instead and let them choose whatever brand they want.

Those customers tend to buy your own product then. They will perceive you as someone caring and an expert to turn to in case of trouble.

But if you’re not constant or you write silly stuff… then it can really backfire. Same with social media.

I think first you should need to think about the business you have need a blog or website.
Because blogs are meant for promoting your business keywords and products which you are offering and it will help in increasing your website search ranking and so on.

So you need both if you actually want to promote your business online.

Hi,

I have seen this question around in some forums too …

Well it depends on the time and team and many factors, and I agree to have them both …

In some cases the blog will be great to build some backlinks to website … or as mentioned above the blog needs always to be updated

For Your Success !

The blog is really help to the different people. All the blogs will give different details, I always use the blogs for get the content, i get always the quality content from the blog. the website is also doing well job in different field.

From my point of view, i think it depends on which product or services you are promoting. If you had a vast range services/product then in order to define it more precisely for the visitors/consumers then you must include blog in it. Else proper updation with convening website is fine without blog.
