I am currently with godaddy and find the hosting reliable and cheap, but I absolute detest their marketing strategy with their “hot” Internet-only naked Danica Patrick ads. Makes me wonder what types of adult sites their main hosting business comes from. I feel somewhat strange in that sort of sexist environment. But so far I have been too lazy to move my hosting somewhere else. Their whole business model just doesn’t seem to attract serious businesses.

Always get a hosting that have a live tech support
Live tech support is not a bad thing, but it’s not a guarantee of getting things solved any quicker, and it case of a disaster, it can get overwhelmed just as email/ticket based support can. Also, many hosts, especially in the budget hosting market, will only have level 1 techs manning the live chat. If you require anything remotely complicated, a ticket will likely be required.
There are plenty of reputable hosts that don’t offer live chat.
The problem I had with Dreamhost aka dyinghost or deadhost is they IGNORED all my emails…since they do not have live support. They control the communications.

True, a local host will be easily called to court. But live support/phone can go unresponsive either way. It all goes back to the quality of the service. Either it is there, or it isn’t. A tool (like phone) is nothing, unless employed and manned properly.
At least I know where they are …not in some foreign land.

Iam on GoDaddy for 6months now and all I can say is…the service is crap…they know nothing about installed modules etc…all they do is linking you to the help pages…I had a lot of downtimes the last month and it looks like the server getting slower and slower…
your right godaddy are rubbish. its really good you said that but really wierd this post is still available. cos i did a post saying they were rubbish too and it got removed. thats were i am very puzzled about liable damage to companies. do you hjust have to justify your reasons to make it acceptable?hmmm…
Do you mean libel? If so the main defense is truth, another common defense is opinion in the statements within this thread most people have provided their experiences with the company to backup what they are saying and are really only stating opinion as their statements for the most part are not falsifiable. However evidence would exist in many cases to show that what has been said is true therefore being covered under truth. Now the last defense pertaining to something like this is fair comment on a matter of public interest, if it is a reasonable comment which a typical person could conclude from the scenario than it is perfectly legal to state it so long as it is a matter of public interest which a companies actions are so long as they are selling to members of said public.

Their domain names seems to be cheap enough (with promos), but for hosting I prefer to use a hosting company.
i just skip all the hosting and ads godaddy is trying to sell. I just use godaddy because it’s cheap…$7.49 for a domain name is pretty good.
I finally gave up on them and switched to Bluehost last weekend. Couldn’t handle their tech support anymore.
I have come across quite a number of bad reviews about GoDaddy. If you are using it for Drupal/Ubercart setup, best to avoid GoDaddy at all cost.
I’ve used GoDaddy for YEARS.-- Never had one problem with them, everything always runs smooth. Although I’ve had problems with the hosting/email area, but I have’nt used that for a long time.
Hey because they are so reasonable and easy-to-use they need to make more money on something! They need to do their marketing like any other service does.
I completely agree with JonShannow godaddy is a crap and its not a good site at all and the main problem i face the site is too slow and think when a hosting company’s site slow like this then how they will give a faster server and another thing godaddy team always wait for any opportunity and they don’t leave any opportunity to exploit and take money from us do you know last year i had purchased a shared hosting and domain from godaddy team my site always load slowly after many complain they don’t bother to reply me and once i found my paypal account is debited with $ 10 do you know why and who had taken this money , its withdrawn by the godaddy team and when i asked why u charged this amount and after 7 days their billing team replied that they charged this amount because i always disturbed them by asking different queries about the slow loading of site and server error problem and another incident happened with me after few months they had crossed their limit they had withdrawn $ 50 from my paypal as i having no balance in my paypal so paypal team deducted this amount from my credit card which is attached with it, the matter was one stupid fellow without any issue complained against me that i had changed my who is information but actually this is absurd thing…so why one person complain against me thats why they had charged my money so i had opened a ticket and requested them to check my account status whether i had changed or altered anything in previous days or not they replied me with an apology letter that there is no problem with my account or with me and this issue made with accidentally but they told they won’t pay back my money as its already taken because to investigate the matter they have appointed a team so its their investigation fee so friends please tell me whats my fault here? So i suggest you not to go for this stupid godaddy, they are cheaters.

If best you mean you get about what you pay for than yes, as it is majorly oversold just like the linux shared hosting is. To me cheapest does not mean best by any means, I’m willing to pay for quality and in the hosting market not that much money per month separates the 2. Considering your name and your sig links I think your rather biased.

now let me talk about the godaddy’s shared hosting. If I want to get a new Lamborghini in $1, I think I’m in my daydream, but I just want to use the best price to get the correct choice. Like the Unlimited disk space, Unlimited traffic, you can see that most hosting company said that they support that, and the price is only *.**/mon, but PLS use the google to search the Dedicated Server, even more than $200/mon , you still can’t find the unlimited space & traffic. We all know that there are at least hundreds shared hosting in one Dedicated Server. If you have a important web site or huge traffic site, you’d better choose the Dedicated Server, at least the Virtual Dedicated Server.
