Best ways to promote thru Facebook?

Facebook does indeed help traffic (not backlinks) if used regularly to establish your presence. There are many things you can do, but as a minimum recommend the following:

  1. First establish some friends. It is hard to start posting info about your site unless you have a network of friends.

  2. Update your status. You can put a link in your status and it is clickable in your profile. For example you can can say: XXXX is updating their site at http://www.xxxxx.com

  3. Post notes. You can provide links in your notes. To make it stand out I would include an image. Images in notes are not attachments, but actual images embedded in the note which makes it stand out. One thing interesting about notes is that you can make it available to EVERYONE so those outside your network can still see the note.

  4. Use the share button. You can download the button to your browser (at least to firefox) and use it when you are on a page you want to share with other facebook members.

  5. Use the search browser to find new friends, not the search function. Facebook does not have an obvious link where the search browser is located and most members do not use it. Here is where you will find it: – after you log in, click your settings link in the upper right corner, next click your Networks tab, next you will see something like “There are xxxxx (this a number) people in the xxxxxxx network.” Click the number link and you will be taken to the search browser so you can now be selective in your search criteria.

All of the above needs to be done in moderation. If you post tons of notes with your link in it all day, friends are going be annoyed and drop you and facebook is going to become suspicious.

Hey steveeyes, your reply is very helpful. I checked your Filipina websites and they look pretty good.

As someone said before, creating facebook app is a great way to generate traffic to your site. If you do dating, you basically just need to create a search form, and show search results (from your database). When profile is clicked, it will lead to your main website and ask to register. If you can use facebook api to pre-fill the signup form as much as you can, that’d be better. Another idea is speed date, that’s fairly new and people like it a lot.

it is quite hard to promote ur site thru facebook, they are trying to get advertisers to use their ads i think which are quite expensive, but really i suppose it is a social networking site rather than a tool for us to promote our sites !

Woc

I do not actually think that facebook is a good way of promotion. Try digg or stumbleupon.

Anybody have any luck with paid ads on Facebook?

yes, i actually bought something from a paid ad on facebook, so it does work

The best way to promote you business is create another profile and bang on some good looking girl. Just talk about your site and you won’t believe how much attention you’ll get from people (Especially the guys).

I’ve noticed that many companies do this on MySpace as well as Twitter, many people fall for it. I’ve never done this myself, but if you want to do it “in a clean way” I’d suggest making an application like other suggested.

Someone I work with has had great success with the paid ads on facebook, and he even prefers them to PPC now. Very targeted ad campaigns are possible.

I think I read once that there is some VISA app you can add that will give you $100 free facebook ad credit.

yeah, I also noticed that. and there are some who will send you messages like, hey! how was the party last night? then you replied and asked them about it and they replied pretending that he know you until that person will tell you about their business.

Tried once…no luck. I guess it depends on your business niche.

Well you can get traffic to your website from facebook by joining the groups which are relevant to your sites…

I use a number of social networking sites so dont just focus on one. If you want to promote your site network with others like you and your friends, be normal do your thing dont just be all business otherwise people will look at you as spam and eventually you will waste your time.

The BEST way is to start up groups that are relevant and helpful and have members join. Then give them daily tips and strategies. Make them feel like they are getting something and then upsell them every once in a while.

Post links everytime. You can add your links to your websites or affiliate links on your profile account, this is allowed. Or create a FB group so you can create an list of FB members to broadcast to regularly.

I tried once with paid ads, got 15,000 impressions and 35 clicks to a playstation games site…got 100% bounce rate, 0 clicks, and no time on the site.

Basically people would click and close the window. Not even a bite. Not sure how those people with “make money online” ads actually sell anything.

Yet I try to join facebook advertising before.,the buzz online spread badly about them and Idont think it will change soon, facebook has put more and more inconvenience to there client ,include me when tey just banned my content only for me and move it to there own collections

Other than posting photos on your Facebook profile of your product to show potential clients, what else can I do with Facebook to promote my business?

Thanks, Karen

I agree with that. A few real estate agents that I know kept posting “IF your looking for a house or know anybody…” (you get the picture) and their friends list was getting smaller everyday and they couldn’t figure out why…I wonder!? One person even asked my associate if they could stop posting this on their profile(obviously not very Facebook literate)lol.

add groups to your profile and join with some communities.

An application, a fan page and posting links or videos will be the best strategy that I have in mind.
