Am I spammer?

Hi all

My question is to admin and to you all…
I am new here, I am trying to follow forum rules, I am participating in forums and take care all the rules…

Also I use my own website’s links in signature whenever admin will allow me. Overall I want to promote my website and also don’t want to break SP rules. I want to use only resources allowed by SP admin.

But am I going to right way? How will I know if I make any mistake?

Please answer! I am too serious about it because I want to earn forum benefits, don’t want to earn ban.

Thanks for taking your time. Your reply will be a great help.

@ccs007; if you haven’t read FAQ/Rules doing so should help answer your questions.

If they don’t it’s best to ask if doing something is OK to do before you do it.

In any case, unless you post outright blatant SPAM, you’ll need to work at getting Banned.
Generally speaking, more or less,
First violations result in a Warning - so you’ll know you did something wrong. Warnings give you a “second chance”
If you do it again however, you may get an Infraction. This gives you a “third chance”.
But if you get another Infraction then that could result in a Ban
“Three strikes you’re out”

In other words the first time could be an honest mistake.
A second time and you’re pushing
A third time and it’s obvious you don’t intend to even try and behave so that’s it.

Also I use my own website’s links in signature whenever admin will allow me. Overall I want to promote my website and also don’t want to break SP rules. I want to use only resources allowed by SP admin.

You can have a Signature after you have been a member for 90 days - if we haven’t moved to Discourse by then where there are no Signatures,
Other than that, you can pretty much put what you want on your Profile page. If you make good interesting posts the chance that others might be interested enough to go there to find out more about you are improved.

Thanks @Mittineague

I was looking for same you told me.

If the only reason you have to be here and contribute is to promote yourself/services then yes you’re a spammer… in my eyes. However, I think anyone who provides a link to their services/portfolio is somewhat a spammer… so yeah.

I have one more question… When I mention someone, then name does not have hyperlink… But when you mention me or someone else, the name have hyperlink.
see it… @Mittineague

Do only you have this authority or I am doing something wrong?

First, it has to be a real member name (it can’t be spelled wrong, you got that right with mine)
What you’re missing is that it needs a semi-colon - ; - after it to get linkified.
Alternatively you can wrap the name in [noparse][MENTION][/noparse] bbcode tags

Okay thanks

Let me try again… @Mittineague;

It is working now… Thanks again…
today I learn enough.

Yep, that’s it. Easy enough, once you know how that is.

I am sorry… I am not agree with you…
How can I be a spammer if I am following all the rules and put my intention in knowledge of Admin too…
Do admin support spam? never…
so I am not a spammer… I am just an entrepreneur who want to take benefit by giving you benefits from my contribution…
You can check all my thread I reply honestly… isn’t it?
Yes here are some hidden reasons too… like I will learn enough…
I did not write so because it is understood that everyone learns from forum

The same way a US citizen can be deemed a racist without breaking any US laws. Perception… that is all it comes down to. Most people who are knowledgable on here who are not admin/mentors don’t typically advertise themselves or their business – there is always PM…

I have read rules again… I did not found anything wrong in using own links in signature… I think by providing signature authority the admin just increase members’ interest in forum. And I just inform that I’ll utilize that facility…

Here are numbers of members doing same… no one is spamming…
Also I agree that individuals have different opinion as you have… All mind can never be same…
you can check team leader @Mittineague; have used links in signature.

Note that oddz said “only”. If you’re here because you want to talk about web work, and while you’re here you might as well mention your site in case anyone is interested, that’s fine. If the main reason you’re here is to find excuses to promote your site, that’s not. But as Mittineague said, unless it’s outright blatant spam, we will always give you a friendly warning first if you’re doing anything you shouldn’t!

I understand… Everyone learns from forum and I am leaning too… Reason to join this forum is simple… I am interested in learning more about websites… I just clear my doubts about signature field… and other rules… And all have been explained…
