ezinearticles and articlebase are two of the best article directories I have seen.
You can post your articles over there, or you can also create your blog and post your articles in that blog.

Ezinearticles has really high standards, and is therefore very good. Lots of traffic as well from them.
I think you need to be clear with yourself what you need the articles for. If you’re looking to use them as article marketing material to get picked up by other sites and used to drive traffic towards you, then ezinearticles is probably your best bet.
If however, you’re trying to sell the article in its own right, then try somewhere like constant-content. But be warned, the standard is high.
Ezinearticles is in my first list as well, articlebase and digg are my top three submission sites. You can research via google and see their ranking so you will have an idea on which sites you need to focus more.
Yes sometimes doing a guest blog in a good traffic blog will get you some traffic too.
Ezine and Buzzle I think are the best articles site.
edit your articles a bit and submit them on your blog or as a guest blog on another site. otherwise, you can make squidoo lenses or create a hubpage - these generate even more traffic.
