The Official SitePoint T-shirt Competition

It’s been a long time since we had our last official SitePoint t-shirt designed so I’ve decided that I need to do something about getting a new one organised.

It’s been so long in fact, that some people claim I look about 12 in this photo (taken when my SitePoint t-shirt was still unfaded) and I can assure you that it’s been a long time since I was asked for ID!

So if you think you’ve got what it takes to design us a new one, head on over to 99Designs and enter the competition. Because it’s you - our SitePoint community - that will be wearing the shirt, I am going to let you have the final say. I’ll be bringing over the top 5 designs and running a poll here at SitePoint for a winner. That will be happening in 14 days from now and the poll will run for one week only, so if you’re not going to enter the competition, make sure you come back and vote in the poll.

But for now, get your design buzz on and blow my socks off - there’s US$500 up for grabs.

superman image or wonder woman lol…

We’re starting to see some great entries!

There is still a week and a half to go so if you’re still just thinking about it, get over to 99Designs and enter!

Ah, I really like riza’s designs, they’re kinda what I was thinking of…

but I love the ones with the browsers on them. IE: LOL

Now someone just needs to make one with a literal code monkey (what kind of code is made by a thousand monkeys typing on a thousand typewriters? Oh wait, that was just what DreamWeaver spewed out).

Ooooh monkeys. A cute little code monkey. Squishing a mouse in his hand. Wearing a sitepoint shirt.

No way! It doesn’t cost any more to get a shirt made that is colourful and covered in imagery than it does to get one with a couple of logos on it. At least, not with the guys we’re planning on using. I don’t want constraint shown - that won’t win the contest.

Because the concept is good. It can easily be developed to overcome that.

Thanks… I think.

We’re all sold out of that one. Why don’t you enter the comp and design something just as neat only updated?

Wow, I totally love entry number 69, I would happily wear that. Though how 59 is still in the running I don’t know… it uses deprecated code

PS: Hawk, you look so cute in that image, like a puppy posing for one of those LOLCAT’s pictures

Ugh – bad timing. (for me) I’m literally right smack dab in the middle of designing 2 t-shirts for an open source client. (can’t yet be specific as to which)

At least you guys don’t have the ridiculous requirements (like no touching colors, 3 colors total and all lines .038" apart) that this open source client has given me. I’ve never been so ready to pull my hair out over a t-shirt in my entire life. :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way, this one and [URL=“http://99designs.com/t-shirt-design/contests/sitepoint-needs-official-t-shirt-45558/entries/28”]this one look to be the best so far, in my opinion.

@Sarah: Front design only or is front and back okay?

HAWK,

can we still order the one you are wearing? looks neat.

Indeed, and just because of it I’ve decided to contribute!

Great.

Maybe my entries are a little more up your alley? Some of my quotes are a bit ‘out of the box.’ I’ve got some more ideas too, just need time to implement.

EDIT: Holy moly! I just noticed that the prize was $500! You should have mentioned that in this thread!

And to think I was wondering if I’d get a free t-shirt if I won just moments ago when designing my current entries…

Yup, I’m an easy client alright!

Front or front/back is fine.

I think one of those ideas has great bones. I’d like to see some ideas a bit more out of the box than I’m seeing so far. I’m excited about the response though.

Of course they’re constrained: any time you really, REALLY want to design something like a shirt, cost adds up fast if it’s anything more than some logo the shirt maker can plak onto the front.

I mean, sure, I had some ideas with coloured borders of shirts and sleeves and designs all over… but nobody will ever make such a shirt, unless they are some clothing company, like G-Star.

Heck, I also want the sitepoint logo on the back, with my username underneath, and a catfish-looking border on the bottom of the shirt except it’s not an ad for any particular thing, just something like Sitepoint can haz bBooks and Articles or something. That would be lawlz.

So far I would go for number 69 as well

I’ve edited my post to add reference to the prize.

Some general feedback on the entries so far…

I’m looking for something that stands out. So far everything feels very corporate and restrained. The SitePoint Community is fun and fresh - I’m not getting that in the designs. Everyone seems to be afraid of colour.
