Registrar went out of business, no warning. How do i transfer my domains?

I registered some domains a few years back with a small local company. Prices were a bit high but they allowed me to pay via bank deposit and i had no CC / paypal at the time. Never transfered them anywhere else due to lazyness and convenience.

Yesterday one of those domains expired and i wondered why i didn´t get a warning 30 days before like they usually do. Long story short, they are gone. No website, no one in their support IM account, no answer to my e-mails.

Is there a way to transfer my domains to another registrar without they giving me the authorization code? All of them are listed under my name.

Thanks in advance.

Find out what registrar they are really at, call them and explain the situation.

I recommend you contact send this issue to ICANN. I’m pretty sure you will be suggested the solution as I suppose you are not only customer of them

If ccTLD’s are concerned you can also contact the respective Registry. Or ask your current Registrar to do this.

We guess you bought domains through a reseller. You must contact right now to support of your Registry and explain them your position. You will get back your domains hopefully.

Good luck.

the local guys must have been reselling domains for a accredited registrar. check the whois records and contact them. As long as you still have access to the email addresses you used as contacts when they were registered they should be able to assist you. They will must likely charge you a fee to get any expired domain(s) out of “redemption status” (assuming, of course, that you are listed as the domain(s) registrant)

Ok, found the actual registrar, contacted them and it looks like i can renew / transfer my domains through their system.

Thanks for all the help!.

ICANN won’t help you. Contact the registrar. Is the domain name in YOUR name or the company you registered through? If the latter, you’re screwed. You need to buy it from expired name companies (depends on registrar… snapnames, namejet, etc).

I’m so sorry to hear about this issue. I had some domains with regfly years ago, and they just went out of business one day  Thankfully, I was able to move domains to another registrar, but it was a big headache
