I’ve been using EditPlus to create and edit my css. Overall, I like it enough that I haven’t looked for an alternative in several years.
However, I’ve been having a few performance issues with it and I’d like to test a few other options for editing my css.
Can you guys recommend a few options that you use and like, and why?
There are so many code editors, of all shapes and sizes. Does it have to be just for CSS? Most code editors handle any code. Are you on a Mac or PC?
Hi Ralph, I use both Mac and PC.
I’m mainly looking for a text editor that’s really good with CSS.
If it happens to handle xhtml or php code as well, that’s a plus, but not my main criteria.
I’m just looking for a really good css editor with hints, auto-complete, auto-correct, etc…
What do you use for CSS and why do you like it?
I use Dreamweaver as a code editor and really like it, but of course I use it for HTML, PHP etc as well. (Note: I never use design view. 
) I’d hate to do different code in different editors. There are all sorts of features in Dw that make it handy for code editing. I also use TextMate and Coda on the Mac, and often just plain old TextEdit too!
Dw has code collapse, code highlighting, missing tag/quotes highlighting, code indenting and code formatting options as well as built in validators, references for css, html and javascript, code suggestion and built in ftp facilities.
