Hello
I have a website which for years has been at the top of google for a specific search term.
Suddenly this week the site has totally vanished but only from google.co.uk pages, I have a few friends in other countries and when they search their end they still see the site at the top of the rankings, however if they go to google.co.uk and search then they do not see the site at all.
Even if I go to the google page of their country and search as I am using a UK ip address I cant see the site.
Has anyone ever come accross this before, the content is all nice and legel if not a little political.
Cheers
Ian
Ian - when you’re searching are you logged into your Google account? Your personal browsing habits may be affecting the rankings for your user.
I may have an answer to my own question.
I had 2 other domain names parked on top, both were exactly the same but the extension were a .net and co.uk
Apparently this makes google think it is duplicated content and in my case it has pushed the .com domain to the bottom of the rankings and given the .net domain more preference but nothing like the .com had.
I have now added a 301 re-direct from in my .htaccess file as per this sites tutorial
http://www.besthostratings.com/articles/301-redirect-parked-domain.html
So I guess its a waiting game now to see if my .com page re-appears as the co.uk and .net domains now re-direct to the .com
Cheers
Ian
