The ideal way to get links from a number of sites in one go is to submit articles to a article site such as isnare which submits them further to a number of other article sites. Thus you get a link from every site. Since these sites have a lot of content on them, they generally have a good PR too.

Also before trying to get links its worth to check whether the links are dofolow or nofollow. The nofollow links will do you no good - it does not give credit of the PR of the website to the nofollow link.
Nowadays most of the blog comments have turned nofollow. No use wasting time on them.
