I have my target keyword phrase currently sitting at 8% (Including Title, Meta Data, A tag, h1, paragraph etc…) keyword density for a new site. Is that too high? What should my target be to not look spammy.
Many SEO experts consider the optimum keyword density to be 1 to 3 percent. Using a keyword more than that could be considered search spam.
The formula to calculate your keyword density on a web page for SEO purposes is (Nkr / Tkn) * 100[citation needed], where Nkr is how many times you repeated a specific keyword and Tkn the total words in the analyzed text.
This will result in a keyword density value. When calculating keyword density, be sure to ignore html tags and other embedded tags which will not actually appear in the text of the page once it is published.
In the recent post in SEOChat, there was a post “Unimportant SEO Ranking Factors in Google” wherein it was mentioned that Keyword density do not work anymore. You need to focus on writing a clear and user friendly text.
When you read the page, how does it read? Does the text flow naturally, or does it seem stilted? Does it seem to use a range of vocabulary, synonyms and pronouns … or does it read like a keyword-stuffed bot-fest?
Google does not have a numerical target for keyword density, and an appropriate density will vary from one site to another, depending on the type of content and the style of writing. The best test is how well it reads.
Keyword density for any web page must not be more then 2 % other wise it appears to be spammy.
keyword density is not that important that can make a change to web page ranking, even its its lower than 2% it will not decrease web page ranking, if its getting relevant back linking with anchor text in its link.

Sorry, I didn’t catch that … could you repeat it?
how many SEO experts does it take to change or fix or replace a light bulb, lightbulb, lamp, lamp bulb, lampbulb, light, lighting, light switch, lightswitch, switch, fluorescent tube?
Real SEO experts, pay no attention to keyword density. Write to your audience. Do not write for the search engines.
I am new in SEO but I have read lots of blogs and articles on keyword density and got the idea that using 3-4 % density is really good for SEO. It save our site from all spam.
It depends on the search engine; each has its own preference. There isn’t really a set amount, but some experts suggest about 2-3%. Theseoguys is right; write for your audience. Write naturally, using keywords approx. every 100 words.
Keywords injected forcefully whether its one or 1% or more is too much.
while keywords that are injected as per necessity of the article is never too much this is the most basic strategy rest comes afterwards…
keyword density is a factor you need to consider in your content, keyword density should be between 5-7 % in your content. You will get a list of tools to check the keyword density, if it is more better to include more content.
2-3% is the ideal keyword density
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!

There is no such thing as an ideal keyword density. If Google was so stupid as to be fooled into thinking that a page was particularly relevant for a certain topic just because 1 word in 30 was the same, it would be completely useless and would be so easily spammed that there would be no point.
I’ve had enough.
From now on, anyone who says that there is a target keyword density you should aim for will be shot. No questions, no arguments.
There is no such thing as optimal or excessive keyword density. Keyword Density is a term that had its time and now its time is definitely up.
Focus on you content readability and flow. If the content is par excellence for its intended audience it has got all the density it requires. Don’t try to make content for Search Engines. The real trick is to provide something extra …
As far as I know your Keyword density is high, it should not exceed to 6%. Personally I have keyword density between 3 - 7 to every 100 words.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you…
