I think the high ctr’s may be the result of the unique ad format.
Most users are used to the other intext ads, but not these yet.
I did hide the ctr and some stats because i thought as i said it may be against the TOS like adsense.
Yes… in-text ads can annoy visitors. That is a valid point, but you need to weigh that risk. If you get mostly search engine traffic say 70-80%+ then your visitors are most likely one time visits looking for something specific, why not try and make a buck. If most of your traffic is from dedicated direct traffic (returning users) then in-text ads may not be right for that site.
Wow im glad this post got promoted to the front of the forum.
And yeah D be sure to post your review as well. Lets get more opinions on this site.
Actually, i Just checked and it’s more like $17 away from the threshold! Think I’ll try infolinks for a few days and, if they’re any good, let them know that i’m continuing with Kontera until i reach the next payment threshold - Probably about 3 weeks, with a lousy eCPM of 0.21 right now.
One additional question… can you post their definition of “Net Impressions” - based upon what you are showing is about a $2.62 CPM - which is Very High on a page… is there a limit to how many text links they put an add on?
How do they measure impressions? is it the total of the page?
I’m from Kontera, I’ve been following this thread and I wanted to stop by and say that Kontera’s mission is to provide publishers, advertisers and users with the best quality technology to deliver the most targeted ads at the best rates. With this aim in mind, we have been in the market for years, offering the best In-Text Ad solution to publishers across the web, US and international.
Our reliability is far higher than any company that entered the market yesterday and now offers exaggerated rates for advertising which is low on contextual relevancy. CTR is usually high so long as the ad product is completely unfamiliar, but how long can that be kept up?
We try to be wherever our partners are through different channels of support, account management and even visiting around SitePoint with the aim to offer close attention to all our partners.
I’ll be around to respond or answer any questions.
So my first day of using InfoLinks after removing Chitika Linx.
My results are terrible. 8,000 impressions and $1.29 compared to averaging $4 with Chitika. CPC looks about $0.05. I’ll give it a few more days, but it looks likely I’ll be reverting back to Chitika Linx. Disappointing!
Wow that is bad, but the discrepancy can be very pronounced depending on the look of your website, how the links are implemented and the nature of your traffic.
For what it’s worth I’m getting an average of 13 cents a click with Infolinks as opposed to the 5 cents a click I was getting with Kontera. I wished the popups would load faster, but so far they’re off to a good start.
If someone is willing to pay more ill let them worry about their business model. Im guessing they are being competitive as its such a competitive saturated marked.
As far as stability, yeah Kontera is stable. I’ve just never made any money with your program.
My estimated CPM has dropped by .50 to about $1.48 from $2.00 over the last week.
Someone had mentioned they are also paying only 70% now. I think they had a special sign up before october and get 80% im guessing i got cut to 70% as well as the drop occurred in … October.
The total number of times your web pages that contain Infolinks in-text ads were displayed.
Web pages in which in-text links were not displayed are not included in this number."
Im guessing that is a page total, and not an ad total.
With that in mind the CTR is per page and not per ad unit and so really should be divided by 3 or so, as that seems to be the average number of ads on a page.
I also would like to say i am in no way affiliated with infolinks.com and am just giving my opinion. Which is they seem to be loading well and having above average payouts.
For 12,000 impressions yesterday, I got $4.99. I’ve sent them an email asking why I’m receiving such low rates, after they emailed me personally to subscribe to their service. I’ll let you know if my earnings increase, after I hear back from them.
