I am not much of a blogger, but I want to begin posting more articles on my SEO site to help people combat common misinterpretations about SEO and internet marketing as a whole. So far I have written about how to tell if SEO is working, how to avoid getting ripped off by an SEO company, why SEO is important, and different types of SEO.
I do not want to go into too much technical details because I want to gear the content towards business owners and what will be helpful to them.
Does anybody have any ideas for internet marketing articles that would clear up any misconceptions you may have or any that the average business owner may have?
It might be worth providing a list of questions to ask a potential SEO service provider, and things to watch out for. I have clients who run off to so-called experts that clearly don’t have a clue what they are doing, yet take wads of money for nothing. The clients have no way of telling if the provider is any good.

Be aware that, whatever topics you choose, you are in a very competitive area. Trying to find topics that haven’t already been written about hundreds of times - that might be something of a challenge. (But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try.)
Thats a great idea @Mikl, thanks for your suggestion!
I am not expecting to rank for any major keywords or become a leading writer in the SEO world, I will probably not have time to write more than one or two articles a month realistically. I spend much more time focusing on another company my partner and I are launching that is focused on third party recruiting and lead generation.
I already rank for most of the local keywords that I am targeting, and I want to give my visitors something to read when they get to my site. In my experience, teaching people about SEO in terms they can understand makes them feel more at ease when it comes time for them to decide how valuable of a service it is.
Thanks again for your input, I really appreciate your take on internet marketing.
How about tackling some of them head-on? I deal largely with people who are not particularly knowledgeable about (or interested in) the internet, and they’re often quite panic-stricken over “advice” they’ve been given (usually by friends and relatives). e.g. “You won’t get any visitors to your website if you’re not on Facebook.” I’m sure you’ve heard plenty of nonsense in your time, so pick the most popular myths and write about them. You can bring out any grain of truth that might be underlying the misconception.[/FONT]
One way you can go about brainstorming for blog post ideas is to browse through all the threads here on Sitepoint and you will realized a lot of SEO-related topics and questions are being discussed and debated. Of course, some of these are advanced SEO discussions but we do get a lot of questions post by people who are now too.
