Hello all. Had the opportunity to play w/flash recently. Hadn’t touched it since college. was wondering how widely used it is nowdays?
is mostly just for the animated adds & other animation/multimedia?

Flash is being used less and less. HTML5 is being used more and more for videos. SVG use is increasing for animated images and advertisements where Flash was previously used. I think Flash has peaked and is being supplanted by newer technologies built into browsers. Other than watching videos on Youtube, I always hated Flash-based splash pages and advertisements.

It is true that the decline of Flash was highly accelerated by Apple when they chose not to allow Flash in their devices… that forced and allowed that other technologies developed in a shorter period of time. Still, I suspect that Flash would have disappeared at some point.
I guess it is still used somewhere (maybe to do certain type of sophisticated presentations) but, apart from videos in youtube, I haven’t seen it in ages
I notice however that all add (most?) on fb, google and the adds that show up while watching shows on my laptop seem to be flash items.
Also after entering this post & reading the reply from Cheesedude i checked out some tutorial on your tube for svg animation. It maybe the future. but it is not very intuitive and you need various platforms.
I can see that flash would be a lot easier to use.
Now a day, flash is used very less. Html5 and SVG has more feature to create video.
