Does Yahoo have a "sandbox"? And if so why am I in it!? ;)

Hi there,

Ok, so this is my situation…

I manage a site that has the top 1-5# position in Google in pretty much all the main short tail and long tail keyword related searches you can think of to it’s niche. And it also has a PR4 and its a 5 year old domain.

But search for any of the, in Google, #1 ranked keywords in Yahoo and the site is NOWHERE to be found…

…but this is not a new problem, its apparently been like this for a few years!

Anyone got any suggestion!?

Your site’s Google Page Rank means absolutley nothing to Yahoo. Yahoo is a completely different animal, with a different algorithm. Showing up in the rankings in Google does not mean showing up in Yahoo. If you do an exact phrase search for your site in Yahoo, does it show up then? Have you submitted your site to Yahoo to be indexed?

Well, Yahoo is serving up Bing results, and Bing is evolving their algorithm. It would not surprise me if there is something like this.

I got similar top placement in Bing as I have in Google though!?

Yeah, of course I understand that the engines has ha slight different system of ranking websites, but it can still not be THAT OFF!? …that I go from being pretty much with a +top 5# ranking on all with-in-that-niche keyword in Google to not even within the first 400 in A SINGLE ONE in Yahoo!?

While Google is still dominant search engine, it does not hurt to get rankings in Yahoo/Bing, but there is not much talk of how they rank pages for serps.

…no other thoughts on this!?
