With the Rounded rectangle tool(U),radius of 5px,draw a shape of 125px width and 55px height and delete from the right side, the 2 rounded corners of 5px.
Problem is, I do not know how to go about deleting the round corners. Can anybody help?
Assuming this is Photoshop, you can use the rectangular marquee tool (M) to draw a rectangle that fills the right half of the rounded rectangle, covering the rounded corners with the rectangular selection. Then, using the Edit > Fill command or otherwise, fill the selection with the same colour as the rounded rectangle.
One option is to draw the shape with rounded corners, then go to Layer > Rasterize > Shape. Then drag the rectangular marquee tool over the right-hand side of the shape and press Delete.
The best way is NOT to use raster images/rasterized shapes… wont go into why… just dont do it.
OK, as far as deleting corneres ( or anything else for that matter), it’s simple.
Select the shape layer in question.
click on the RECTANGLE SHAPE TOOL
HOLD OPTION (ALT on PC)… draw a rectangle over the rounded corners.
that’s it…
the great thing about it is:
if you want your round corners back, all you have to do is use the vector selection tool ( black arrow) and click on the rectangle you drew to cover the corners…then hit delete.
Even if you misplaced the covering-rectangle or drew it the wrong size… all you have to do is use the selected ( as mentioned above) and move it or use Scale-path… to fix it…
Nice tip, dresden_p. Thanks for posting! Worked a treat for me. There are quite a few things I’ve only been able to do by rasterizing a layer, and yet I’ve picked up that it’s rarely (if ever) the best way. I’ve seen online tutes and videos where people do something but don’t explain how (they are clearly not rasterizing) but the only way I can replicate their lesson is by rasterizing. (For example, if I set a background color, I can’t apply filters etc unless I’ve rasterized the layer. Any tips on how to avoid that?)
This has taken me one small step out of that conundrum. Thanks!
