Using them for hosting is definitely not a good idea (slow and getting slower, and recently lots of uptime issues as well). I can’t say I’ve had trouble with them way back when I used them for domain registering purposes though.

I’ve been using both for years, and IMHO it’s a very good combination.

I personally don’t like godaddy because it’s not possible to edit domain settings in bulk…

The most popular ones are enom, godaddy, 123-reg, namecheap. I have seen good reviews for all of those. What ever registrar you choose make sure the domain is in your name and you have access to the domain control panel.

i’m using n a m e . c o m for hosting and domaine name, it’s ok

Godaddy is popular I also like network solutions. They bot have good support and easy to manage admin areas.

I am with godaddy…

Well you can have your own issues but i have used daddy and had no issues with it.

I have hosting with hostgator and domain name with godaddy because they are fast and cheap. So for registering a domain i definitlly recommend godaddy.

As far as domain registration goes, i’ve spread my domains across Godaddy, Name.com and NameCheap.

I use blue host and I have had no problems with them.

I’ve used GoDaddy for years and never had an issue with them either.

Be careful with Network Solutions… they’re pretty overpriced for the service. Also, they’re one of the registrars known for temp-registering a domain name you search for on their site, so you can only get it from them…

Use web hosting and domain name registration services provided from different companies.
That is not recommended to keep all eggs in the same basket.

It really depend with which hosting company you buy both domain and hosting.

I agree, namecheap to me is by far the best of the among the cheapest.

blue host is a good one···

go with hostyourspacecouk which provides you the best services and domain name with all the hosting services in low cost…It also provides you the better bandwidth…

I prefer namecheap.com for domain registering and hostgator for hosting. Never had any down time issues with hostgator in the last 3 years.

One thought about hosting - I read somewhere that if you are wanting a website to rank well in a local area e.g. UK and not worried about other areas, then getting your site hosted in that local area gifts you brownie points with google.

True, though there are some simple workarounds: Geotargeting - Webmaster Tools Help

I suppose if your web host or datacenter where your web host is located have really good network - you have nothing to worry about and your web site will be loaded pretty fast around the world.
