I mean when people download and install wordpress, will they be able to look at the whole code of this application?

Yes. Give it a try! It’s quite fascinating to explore the code, but it’s all just files in folders.
But in this case the source code is not secure, so anyone can look at the whole code and make another type of Wordpress! Am I right?

Yes. I guess it’s like most devices—a car, for example. You can buy it, pull it apart, see how it works and (theoretically) create your own on the basis of this. WordPress is ‘open source’, which is basically what this means. Of course, it would be silly to copy their work and then try to sell it as your own…
WP is GNU open source so you can view and edit the source to create your own version of WP based on it if you wish. The GNU license requires you to license your own code (build from the WP base) in the same way.
