Aesthetic use of a domain name extension?

I tried the search but it’s difficult to find a question like this to be honest.

Anyway, you’ve probably seen domainnames where the extension is actually part of the the name (e.g. pizzati.me, ma.tt). I’ve always liked this idea and I kinda want to use this for my own website. So my question is if there are any disadvantages to doing this?
For example, search machines thinking the website’s name is actually the name minus the extension or maybe websites with different/country-specific domainnames get treated differently.

Any input would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Search engines ignore the top level domain except for where it is a country specific one where it gets a slight boost for the local results for that country.

They don’t pay a great deal of attention to the rest of the domain name either - so whatever you call your domain isn’t going to make a huge difference.

Thanks for the reply. That’s the answer I was hoping for

I have heard that domain name itself means nothing for SE - content is a kind and SE pay a lot of attention to it and for back links of course.
