Adsense incredibly low click recording?

On one of my sites I’ve installed ClickHeat, an open source javascript-based click heatmap script, and appears to work simply and objectively. I noticed this morning that an area that has a giant Large Rectangle block in AdSense has received 50+ clicks this morning (0 of them being from me  ). My AWStats records around 1 million pageviews/month and this is a popular section, so that doesn’t seem too unreasonable. AdSense has recorded 0 click for this ad, however, and will probably show no more than 2 for the day as things have been going.

I’ve double-checked the code is right. Numbers haven’t really changed since before I installed ClickHeat (so I wouldn’t say there’s a conflict). Curious if anyone else has seen anything like this? I’ve read that AdSense often “defaults” on an ad if it doesn’t feel like it’s a good impression, but this is all good traffic from real humans so far as I can see (about half is direct from Google, actually), so it’s starting to seem a bit ridiculous.

Maybe you need to work on your ad placement and the color of the text. What’s your overall and daily click through rate? If you are getting less than 1%, then you need to test your ads with different placement. The following ad formats work pretty good in general

  1. 160X600 on the left top corner
  2. 336x280 on top of each post

But it is hard to say when I don’t have other information about your site.
