£40 + VAT per month Good Price?

Hi from wet and mild York UK,

Ive just been asked if its a good deal to continue hosting this site:
http://www.makeityork.com/
for £40 + VAT per month

The seller referenced the terms:
The server is extremely fast for maximum Google SEO and triple backed up and safety. We also have a 24/7/365 phone engineer support contract with UKFast.

Sound very steep to me, my gut feeling its not a good deal. Is there an alternative? (Its a wordpress site)

Very steep indeed, what are your bandwidth usage and what need do you truly have for the all hour “engineer phone support”?

Triple the cost that I would expect for a commercial site with high bandwidth demands in Europe.

Mind I’m not a uk bussiness person. Just my two

There are many alternatives; whether they would meet your needs is hard to say without more information about your site.

I have several small sites on shared hosting with a company which also advertises specialised WordPress hosting packages. (I don’t use WP, so can’t comment on these.) All are considerably cheaper than £40+VAT/month - even more so if you opt to pay for a longer period. Whether any of them meets your exact needs, only you can judge. https://hostpresto.com/apps/wordpress-hosting/ I know other companies also offer similar packages. You really just need to look around.

Do you pay that money for a dedicated or VPS server? As for the shared or WordPress hosting it is extremely high… For the good hosting related deals in the UK you can check webhostchat.co.uk for instance, or you’d have a look for a shared hosting with much cheaper monthly prices at euro-space.net or even wordpress special hosting on http://www.euro-space.net/wordpress-hosting which is around 4 euros per month.

You could host the site for £30/40 per year! £40 every month is probably way too much for the site.
