I’m just saying… It’s not about competiting it’s about helping others, learning from better developers, collaborating together and sharing that knowledge with each other.

Not going against each other to see who knows the most you know Ryan?

Done, left quite a few blank though (a result of not expanding my horizons, so to speak).

Shaun, regex is best learnt, as with most things in this world, by example. The tutorial at www.regular-expressions.info is extremely useful and very well-written with lots of worked examples. I think using regex on snippets of HTML (removing, inserting things) gave me the best practice so far.

No it’s not like that at all. You know why I want to know if you take yourself out

3 more days so get your votes in people!!

Voted. Good luck all. HAHA!

I don’t consider the awards to be so much of a competition, but rather as a recognition. Although one could participate in the forums with receiving an award as a reason, any given award may or may not be there at the end of the year. Some may be removed, added, or merged. So the awards are more of a way of saying “thank you”, not “you win”.

I agree. The awards are a recognition for contributions made throughout the year and not a competition being run at the end of the year.

That is one reason why I declined to stand this year for the two awards I won last year - so that someone else has the opportunity to be recognised for contributing to those areas of the forum.

Voted.

Good luck everyone.

Time’s running out - get your votes in and make your voice heard!!!

Voted, all the best to the participants!

I have voted.

Voted!

But sorry guys I did vote myself too :stuck_out_tongue:

Voted!!
All the best for nominees.

One thing that I could not understand, I have been nominated for the JavaScript guru and I don’t know whether I deserve to be nominated or not but at least I should be informed about that I have been nominated. I didn’t even receive any notifications.

BTW, just curious to know, is it possible to view the statistics that how many votes and who voted for me???

rajug - I have responded to you via PM.

Only two more days to go for voting!!!

Yes I got your PM. Thank you Dave.

Voted. Great to see a lot of new names this year. (Even though I do miss some old ones too.)

Did you accept or refuse the nomination? I am just curious.

From the prior comments it would appear that rajug was one of the few who didn’t respond at all to the query about accepting or refusing the nomination. This year the three or four who failed to respond at all after several attempts to contact them were included on the assumption that they were more likely to accept than refuse and that if they could still refuse to accept an award right up to the time when the award winners are announced.

In one word, Accepted because I never thought that I could be nominated for such an award here in SPF. But I am really grateful to SP and those who recommended me for the JS Guru. And I cannot also claim that I should win the award for the same because there are so many seniors and experts than me who have contributed more. And of course that doesn’t mean that I will not accept the Award if I win :D.

So my only concern here is; at least I should have been informed in anyway (PM, mail) that I have been nominated for the award. I was informed by one of SPF member about this.

So rajeh, you can go and vote for me if you want or you haven’t voted yet :stuck_out_tongue:

No Stephen, I really did not get any notification for the award nomination. Dave Maxwell has already (after my post above) sent me a PM to make it clear that there was some misunderstanding or and missed to inform me.

Anyway its ok this is not the big deal for me. At least I came to know it 3 days prior to the end of voting time. I am proud to be a member of SPF rather than the awards. I will try my best to contribute in the forums as per my knowledge despite of my poor (not good) English. And of course time also matters because sometimes I cannot even login for a long period because of my works.

Thank you.
