Although most of the adult industry was against it, the ICM company has won the battle to make it real.
I think it’s beneficial for the web to have porn sites directed to a single TLD, it would help content filters block out that kind of material to really young kids (which would be unsuitable). While I can understand why that industry would prefer being able to rely on the usual whatever TLD they prefer (to avoid filtering), I do wonder if following tradition (to prevent people stealing it), we will end up with google.xxx or microsoft.xxx (could be amusing).
If they finally go on sale there will be a gold rush happening to grab the best domains, I wonder what se.xxx would be worth
I have no idea why on Earth they do not approve it. Where is the catch?
That is correct. Once ICANN annonce that you will be able to say that has been approved. Not that is not enough at all to get them approved.
Well GAC is still to approve the same, so we just need to wait and watch !
It has not really been approved. It is approved pending other input. It still has a very long way to go before it will be added to the root zone.
