Wordpress blog not on our homepage?

We have an existing WordPress website. The homepage is a static “page” not a blog. We would like to keep our existing static homepage and setup a blog on a different page on the site.

Can anyone suggest how to do this?

I am a PHP programmer, so I can change the theme as necessary.

Just to be clear our homepage (http://example.com/) is static.

We want our blog to live here: http://example.com/blog/

We’d like to do this with one WordPress installation.

Hi Mustard76,

In WordPress 3.2.1 in the wp-admin under Settings->Reading Settings they provide a option for you to select the page that you want for you home (static) page and also what page to put your blogs onto. Of course, the page where you want the blog posts to show up has to have the post loop logic in it, but that should be all you need.

I am very new to WordPress, so there may be other - easier ways - but to me this doesn’t seem like too hard of a way.

Regards,
Steve
