I have a common question for you. Hope you give me your best opinion. However, I have a brand new website where I would like to drive traffic in a short period of time. My target is social media sites. So, which social media should I target now?
You may use following Social Networking websites to increase your website traffic.
Google Plus
Facebook
Twitter
Instagram
Stumbleupon
Pinterest
Linkedin
There seems to me to be little point in replies simply listing social media sites. Anybody can find a list of sites with a quick search. Much more helpful would be explaining why you are recommending particular sites.
@Ricardo: I don’t think there’s a “one size fits all” answer here. The most appropriate social media to use will depend on various factors, including your location, your target audience and your website niche. Without a bit more information, you’re unlikely to get more than generic responses. However, as @Rubble has already pointed out, the main purpose of social media is for social interactions, so you need to bear that in mind, whichever you decide to use.
To all posters: please do not simply name social media sites. As already mentioned, this is of no help to anybody. Instead, please explain why you recommend a particular site, and how to best utilise it. Posts with insufficient detail may be removed as fluff.
Which sites you should use depends upon what you are tying to sell / promote. Each social media site will have their own benefits.
Facebook will allow you to drill down into your specific audience by interests, location, age range etc.
Twitter is more suitable for technology based audiences, but will take a lot of work and, in some people’s opinions, is dying out a little.
LinkedIn for promoting professional services.
Google + (shudder) just because it’s Google and may give you extra Brownie points with them.
Instagram and Snapchat are also good tools if used correctly, but will also require some work.
The list goes on.
If you are looking for an overnight success, you really need to be spending money on Facebook and Google Ads
@TechnoBear is right here, this totally depends on what your site is? I can share my experience with the social media accounts that I have chosen in the past and what kind of audience they attract and why:
Instagram: This brought a young hip audience to my client’s site (a hotel site). With visually appealing content only, it was easy to bring people to the site. Images of food from the hotel restaurant did particularly well, and images of lay mornings in the hotel rooms also.
Facebook: This I used to post many of our special offers - including a current Christmas special. Because Facebook seems to be turning its focus to more visual content, once again, room photos worked a retreat and then linking to the site.
Twitter: I used this mostly for events and then drawing people to the event page of the site. Hashtags on Twitter generally whittle down those interested.
Here’s a pretty good guide that may help.
But let us know some more precise info and I’m sure we can all help!
We have to use High Authoritative Social Media Sites in order to increase the traffic.
Facebook - I use facebook for sharing promotional offers so that users redirect to my website
Twitter - Through twitter we can share about the special events and grab the attention of the users to our website
LinkdIn - Through LinkdIn share the information associated with our business so that It will reach to the targeted audience
And other sites like Instagram, Flickr, Tumblr etc we can attract visitors to our sites through sharing the images etc.
Facebook is really good! I would suggest trying to advertise on there also to get a following. They don’t need to buy anything right now but at least get them to like or share your facebook page. Twitter is good also.
