What tool do you use to manage dev team work?

Hey all,

Interested in what tools people use to manage dev work? At current our team use trello and we run weekly sprints using trello to track each task. The downside to trello is it can be hard to track the overall progress of a new feature and get a good idea on the total time spent working on it.

What tool have other people used? What do you think works best?

Hey, in our office in Rotterdam we use Jira. Hopefully it will help you too.

In our office in Detroit, we also use Jira. I know a few other companies that use it as well.

We use Slack. At work, we often have to transfer confidential customer data, screenshots of documents, and so on. Slack meets all security requirements, there was not a single moment of information leakage. Pros: Clear interface, integration with other services and messengers, the ability to exchange documents in one window: no need to switch tabs, copy, download. Cons: If the quality of the network is poor, video and audio calls freeze a lot, the price is high. Considering the ease of use, the pluses close the minuses.

Thanks for the answer. Yeh, we are also using slack for communication. It is a great tool but a lot can get lost if you don’t move the conversation to a document or something. So if a decision gets made about a feature and that is not moved into Trello card then it gets lost and this is one of our issues at current. I do however love slack as is a great tool to communicate easily when everyone is working remotely.

We use Targetprocess (https://www.targetprocess.com) for the work process (Basically its Trello on steroids, where every part of the process from your board, user stories, to reporting, etc. is customizable). If anyone is looking for a project management system, I can strongly recommend it.

For internal communication, we are using Slack for chat and Zoom for video calls.
