What`s best for my website ? Shared or VPS Hosting

Hello Everyone,

I`am new to sitepoint. I would like know from all experienced webmasters what is best for my website. I have wordpress website with around 70k to 100k Traffic per month .

Should i go with Scopehosts shared hosting Platinum package. Or need go with their Managed VPS.

I have been using them for my other projects. They have been one of the fine provider for me last few years.

Welcome to the forums, @Aryan.

What sort of hosting are you using for the site at the moment, and why are you looking to change?

Presently I`am on with hostgator shared hosting services. They are telling me to upgrade with VPS Hosting . They cost too much.

Hello @Aryan as you told above that your website traffic is around 70k to 100K . In this case if Hostgator saying you to move on vps in that case they are right. Look you must have to go for VPS, May be two company have different price for vps, but in that case, their will be difference in quality also. The rule of life is We will get in life for what we pay. We should not cheap in hosting solutions. Yes we should look at affordable but cheap products will harm your website performance for sure.

Thank you for detailed information on it. I have decided to go with VPS. Now my website has these things

1.2Gb Database
Traffic mentioned above reply.
only around 7-8 plugins installed, which includes Cache plugin, SEO Plugin and other security plugins. Which of the managed vps package suits me best from scopehosts

There is a SitePoint guide which can help you decide on the best hosting package for your needs: http://sitepoint-forums.s3.amazonaws.com/FiveStepstoFindaGreatHost.pdf

Look if you want to take vps from any particular company then my suggestion is, tell about your website to that company technical team, and they can suggest you the best.

Maybe try DigitalOcean VPS for a month. Costs 5 USD per month and wordPress installed in less than a minute. Upload your data, thoroughly test before switching your domain name. If you’re not satisfied switch back to the managed VPS that cost an extra 20 USD per month

I would second the use of Digital Ocean, much more flexible.
