Actually, I don’t know for certain that my problem is specifically a Dreamweaver issue, it’s just that I am using that program and that is where I am seeing the problem.
I regularly sell items on ebay and in an effort to improve the appearance of the listings, I create them in Dreamweaver CS3 and then copy the HTML into eBay.
This works a treat but occasionally I get a problem with Dreamweaver not displaying the pictures.
I upload my photos to Photobucket, create the page in Dreamweaver CS3, and link to the pictures on Photobucket’s site, Then when the HTML is copied to eBay, all the pictures are visible on the page.
Sometimes though, and it doesn’t happen all the time, instead of the photo displaying in Dreamweaver I just get a small icon showing like this:
It never stops the pictures appearing in a browser, just inside Dreamweaver, and only happens occasionally. It’s quite annoying when it does happen because it upsets my flow of work, I can’t see what the page will look like without opening it in a browser.
I hope I’ve explained myself okay. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to solve it? What’s causing it? Any ideas?
It might be possible you are linking to an online images or something in a different site directory or relative link that isn’t viewable while editing on your local machine via DW. In either case a browser usually gives a truer result with regards to previewing a page.
I think I understand what you are saying but I can upload a pile of photos to photobucket, all with similar, sequentially numbered file names, and some of them display in DW and some won’t, in the same DW file.
I keep the albums on photobucket named by month so for example I have one called feb2011. I did notice at the start of this month that none of the pictures were displaying in DW while those from Jan were okay. I found in this case that I had named the folder on photobucket ‘feb 2011’ with a space, when I created another folder without a space the problem seemed to clear up for a while.
Just now and again it raises its ugly head and it did it today, which prompted this thread. I have a DW file, all the photos are named okay and in the same ‘feb2011’ album, but some display and some don’t. It’s really puzzling.
Robert is right, when you get that ‘no image’ icon in DW it’s because of a file path error or because the image doesn’t exist where DW is looking for it.
