We are a content provider, how to avoid duplicate content

Hello

We are a content provider for India tour packages to many websites who does business with us.

Since we have our B2C site also which uses the same content. How can I avoid duplicate content penalty. We can not have different content for the same tour.

There is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty. Unless you have the same content repeated on hundreds of sites and Google starts to think there’s something seriously dodgy about it, you won’t be actively penalised.

What does happen is that, when you have the same contents appearing on two different pages, you tend to find that some links point to one and some links point to the other … so the link juice and general googley goodness is divided between the two pages. Whereas if you had a single page with that content on, all the links and googlejuice would be concentrated on a single page, so you would expect it to rank higher.

In terms of how to manage your site, you would probably want to ensure that the links to each of the pages made it clear whether they were for B2B or B2C … and also provide a link from one to the other, so that is a customer ends up on the B2B site they can easily find their way to the B2C one.
