My client wants a calender to keep his viewers up to date on what’s going on with his company. Can anyone recommend anything worth using? I just learned that Google offers a cool free calendar to use. I will go that route as long as I am able to make the calender look good on the page. My client wants to update the calendar himself.

There are a number of calendar scripts available at places like hotscripts.com - but Google seems like a decent solution for you since you can embed it into a webpage or blog pretty easily.
I agree, as much as I tend to prefer keeping things within “the house”, Google’s calendar is very extensible and it’s very well put together. I’d just use that in preference to one of those ugly PHP scripts. All the ones I’ve seen tend to be poorly put together or rather limited in their functionality and connectivity. 
PS: Offer an iCal / vCal formatted download which people can import directly into their e-mail client or OS’s default calendar application!
