The way i choose my web hosting provider

Having a good web hosting provider is a very important to get a well working website.I read many reviews about web hosting companies and i got confused about if that company is good or not!

I checked many web hosting reviews sites and i found that they have different kind of top ten lists which didnt help me in choosing the right web hosting company!

I decided to choose my web host regarding to the features iam looking for and beside that i checked every necessary information about the hosting company.

The most important part is the money back guarantee,so if there is any kind of problems i can get my money back !

One more thing its better if you test their customer support before buying web hosting service so you can decide if they really good for you or not!

Right now i use inmotion web hosting and for me they are exactly what i need.Since their customer support is very fast, and they really care about their customers.Usually i use live chat and all my problems of transfering my site were solved in very short time.

Iam not trying to tell you that my web host is the best just i want to show you how i choosed it.

Hi, Thank you so much for posting such information because a reliable web host can help an online business to make a good growth and earn expected outcomes online.

I liked your review over choosing a web hosting company. There are many features which should be checked in advance before placing a web hosting order. Few I would like to mention below.

  1. Maximum Uptime Guarantee
  2. Moneyback guarantee (up to 1 month)
  3. (24 x 7 x 365) Support quality and response time.
  4. Hardware specifications
  5. Free Migration and Free server set up.
  6. Owing their own data center.
  7. Free resources like, sub-domains, email accounts, IPs etc…
  8. Should have spent minimum 5 years in the Hosting Business.
  9. I personally think that choosing a web host nearest to your Geographical location is always good.
  10. Reputation and Reviews over Internet.

Hi Phil333.
Well actually this what i meant by checking every necessary information about web hosting provider

Thanks

Hi,
Probably you should also look into the reviews of the web hosts and the ratings given by the users. This can also be one of the feature to choose your desired web host. Even I chose my web host after looking into the reviews and ratings given by the users at hostingcompanieslist. Also this directory holds various hosting providers with their hosting plans.

I took 4 names put them in my sons baseball cap. Had him swirl them around and throw the hat up into the air and on the way down he kicked it and the first name we saw we went with. Jaguarpc.com one but we had hostgator, 1 and 1, bluehost, in the hat, some funny things can happen in choosing your provider.

The reviews about the web hosting companies are becoming less reliable since the competitors use this review to degrade other companies. So, the better technique is to find features of hosting package and experience of hosting provider. Also, a chat session or a call to support team would give a better idea about hosting solution quality.

i prefer to find web hosting provider by read the real experience of their customer in the forum
i believe that in forum the members shared their experience honestly
don’t read the customer testimonial on their own website

So, the better technique is to find features of hosting package and experience of hosting provider.

Comparing features can easily lead to the deceptive “more is better” approach. As for experience, a 10 years old host can have employees with only 2 years experience. A 2 years old host can have employees with 10 years + experience.

What a host’s age can do for the prospective customer is increase the chances of finding honest reviews from real customers.

Well said. :agree:

Yes have to be careful on choosing your host and the fake and real reviews out there for sure.

I don’t only look at the reviews but also tries them with my less important sites for a while.

Well i don’t say that reviews are not important but you should be careful that the web hosting company must have money back guarantee in case you are not satisfied with their services!

checking Reviews for web hosting companies is the good method to find a reliable web host, but you should look at their support if it was good then say its a reliable web hosting provider.

That looks like a solid check list but of course you can never know how good a host is until you try them out. Sure their plans may fit you and etc but will their support be good enough? Will their up time be strong enough? You test these questions once you have a 30 day trial underway.

For my web hosting provider i read many good reviews about them despite this they still have to improve their web hosting services.I agree with you that you have to try the service to judge if it worths money or not!

You started this thread on July 7, 2011. You said that you were using InMotion hosting and that you were pleased with them; especially
with their customer support. The SitePoint review of InMotion, written by Aaron Osteraas, says the following:

“On September 25th, 2011, InMotion hosting and their 700,000 customers were hacked, by someone calling themselves tigher-m@te. Some websites had their files overwritten, and images deleted causing a lot of headaches for website owners. Despite this glitch, we highly recommend InMotion Hosting and are assured that their security processes have been improved, making it almost impossible for this same hack to be executed again.”

Were you affected by the hacking incident? Are you still using InMotion? If so, how comfortable are you with their current security?

I am impressed with them overall, from what I have read; but I’m a little concerned by this security breach.

All those “top ten lists” mentioned in the opening thread are subjective and often biased. Most web hosts listed there are Resellers (although quite big ones) and do not own the infrastructure they use. Using a leased dedicated server does not make you a hosting provider! Money back guarantee is a must in this industry and should not be even discussed. I agree that it is a good idea to test a customer support, although that the tickets from prospective customers often go to “Sales”, which is very different from real “Customer Support”. The customer support operators should serve the current customers. New enquiries could be delayed, the requests by customers not!

I do not agree. You’re a hosting provider the minute you start selling hosting. You’re a big one, or a small one, but you are one. There’s nothing wrong with not owning hardware. You are an ice-cream provider, whether you make it yourself, or get it ready-made, from some other company, as long as you deal with your customers directly.

I was affected with hacking incident, but it was not a big problem. What i was talking about that somtimes i noticed that i can’t access my website! So i contacted the inmotion web hosting customer support and they told me that there was little problem with the server! This what i think they have to improve.

In general they are excellent web hosting provider!
