I was recently e-mailed by someone who has the .com for my .org domain. Usually I wouldn’t take it seriously, but I wouldn’t mind having the .com. So I asked what the price would be, and he’s trying to sell it for $200.
What should I do at this point? Should I try to talk him down to a lower price? What would be a good value for a .com for which I have another TLD? Or is it not really worth it at all?
Meh, personally, I would certainly consider it at that price, although it pays to haggle, even though it’s a lowish price. Tell him you don’t really care about the domain at all, so aren’t interested at that price. But if, say, it were $120, you’d consider it, just for the hell of it. That has worked for me in the past. The chances of him selling it to anyone else is very slim, so he’s just out to make an unearned $ and will most likely be keen to get anything for it, so make him sweat.
