Screen recording

I’m looking for lightweight, easy-to-use tools for recording quick tutorials — ideally browser-based so there’s no need to install heavy software.

So far I’ve tried:

http://shotvu.com/ — records screen + webcam directly from the browser and instantly generates a shareable link.
https://www.loom.com/ — polished, but the free plan has some limits.

What other tools are you using or recommending for fast, shareable screen recordings?

Would love to build a list that could help others looking for a quick setup.

FYI to all here…

I’m going to allow this as it could be useful, but there are conditions:

  1. The site MUST offer a free service
  2. You MUST provide pros and cons for every service you provide.

If these conditions aren’t met and this becomes a spamfest, it’s going to get shut down hard.

Depends on your OS, but most have a recording thing in them.
Windows’ Snipping Tool will let you capture video.
I wouldnt trust a free site to store your video for you. Disappear along with the site.

Nice list! You could also try Screenity (a free Chrome extension) — very lightweight and good for quick tutorials. Another solid option is VEED’s online screen recorder, which runs fully in the browser and generates shareable links instantly. Both are handy when you don’t want to install heavy apps.
