Recommend a web host for a wordpress site

I have just bought an old domain on Go Daddy and signed up for their hosting package . Unfortunately it has turned out to be shockingly bad with the site taking forever to load. It has virtually no content and an empty Wordpress blog template. I appreciate that it is shared hosting but even so you would expect better.

My question is I am looking for a reliable inexpensive web host that is Wordpress friendly which will allow me to display RSS feeds on a page.
I have a dedicated virtual server that I host a couple of websites on but I don’t want to use it as I have to request that the firewall is unblocked for each RSS feed that I want to display.

Also for SEO I think it would be better to keep the domains on separate IP addresses as they will have related but not identical content and at a later date I want to introduce a few one way links from one site to the other.

I would be grateful of any suggestions.

How much space, database and bandwidth etc. required?

I don’t think that it will need very much as its quite a niche area and the site will not be very big.

Regardless of unique IP or not google can still work out if they are related sites or not  It’s not going to be fooled by the IPs being different.

Well i think you can go ahead with any reliable host, like site5, justhost, hostgator, bluehost etc, just make sure you read the reviews about that specific host before signing up. As most of the companies failed to provide 99.9% up time, quality technical and customer support.

I believe having your domain name (web site) hosted on the dedicated IP will never make that better for SEO - only you will have higher invoiced for your web hosting services.

I currently use A2 Hosting for my WordPress blog. I have used them for a while for other types of websites as well. They also have a one-click installation for WordPress in the control panel, should you need it.

I completely agree. In my opinion this is certainly over hyped.

The majority of web hosts will be able to host a Wordpress blog, it’s just a matter of finding one with fast servers and very good support. Are you looking for a US based host?

I suggest stop focusing on SEO and focus more on cheaper reliable Linux hosting so you can forward the saved funds toward Google ads. This will probably get you stronger traffic.

An extra $2/month won’t go very far towards Google ads. I recommend staying away from Google Adwords altogether.

Are you looking to continue with hosting the website on a VPS ?
Is the website currently using linux or windows? You also have one click script installers available in the contorl panel that allow you to install and easily manage wordpress.

I’m running a blog on hawkhost servers and i have no reason to complain.

Have a try on newbiesite.com.I think its a better option

Godaddy is good for domains only, better change your host and optimize your website as well, have a look at Shopaserver.com , decent host with good price.

Hi there is a vast majority of hosts which meet the WordPress minimum requirements. e.g StartLogic, Dreamhost, Laughing Squid, IX Web Hosting, AN Hosting, HostICan and bluehost. Reliability, uptime, performance and customer support are some of the factors which should be kept in mind during selection. So just read reviews about selected host and if possible, go for a trial for couple of selected hosters and compare the results as per your business requirements.

I’m not going to spam and mention a host I work for, or own. However, I would just go to the WordPress website. WordPress › PHP / MySQL Web Hosting and see what WordPress themselves recommends…

You can check many hosting offer that posted on ebay. Sometime you may get bettr deal there. Like promotional products for first few customer. I recommend you to check their reputation before buying.

Those hosts are unlikely to be there just out of Wordpress’s good heart. A while ago they were using affiliate links, but I think they changed the business model. My own testing suggests that some of those cannot be the best Wordpress hosts around. There definitely are better ones out there.

Last I recall most ebay hosts were offering the sky for a peanut, and didn’t last around much. It was one of the toughest places to find hosting to stick with for a good while and be happy with.
