Purchasing Adobe Illustrator CS5

Hello

I need to purchase Adobe Illustrator CS5.

Does anyone have any experience with ebay software sellers.

For e.g i found one here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Adobe-Illustrator-CS5-New-Full-Version-Win-Windows-/120574764439?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c12d0e597#shId

The sellers rating is 99.7%, i have read the reviews left by others.

They list the following on their main page:

Q: Is this a Full Version and not an upgrade?

A: Yes, All of our products are Full Version Factory Sealed Legitimate from Adobe and Unregistered. They are NOT an

OEM / Upgrade / China Fakes /Replica versions.

Q: Can I register the product from anywhere?

A: Yes, Our products can be registered from any country in the world.

Q: Does the product comes in a Cardbox?

A: We ship our product with their DVD Packaging to provide low shipping charges. Save your money with us.

Q: Is it ever been registered or opened?

A: No, Our products has never been registered and are

Factory Sealed, Directly from Adobe Factory.

Do you think that it would be better choice to buy from this ebay seller and pay $458.48 or to go with Adobe’s main site and pay $600

My purpose of purchasing Adobe Illustrator is for Tracing Images.

Can anyone recommend any other cheaper software for Tracking images in Vector Format ?

i downloaded the coreldraw x5 trial and after isntalling, it wont run. tried it again by uninstalling and installing, but same result so uninstalled it for good.

So I think ill purchase illustrator cs5 from adobe’s site.

Does adobe offer any discount coupons ?

For future references, don’t bother with the positive reviews, only look at the neutral/negatives - ebay allows you to select just those, same with amazon.

it doesn’t differ in terms of features, the license is different. you’re not allowed to use it in a commercial, for-profit environment, in very simple terms, you can’t sell what you produce with it, nor can it be part of any service that you provide. This would be illegal.

watch the tracer tool from 18:53 onwards

How about Xara Designer ?

Just installed Coredraw, will test it ou

Just found this video youtube on Xara Designer 6 though its not mainly a avector tool

I did not go thoroughly through the reviews.

How does the academic version differ to the commercial version, are there any features not present in the academic v.

Im downloading the trial version of corel draw x5, i will test it out and see how it goes, otherwise, ill gow ith Illustrator coz i am used to working in photoshop and the familiarity saves a lot of time switching to illustrator.

Are you talking about your experience with the above Ebay Seller ?

I am not a student, and i dont need the student edition.

I need a commercial product, not a free or open source software. I already have inkscape.

The sellers rating is 99.7%, i have read the reviews left by others.

  • Listing and emails say Adobe Commercial license. Adobe shows Academic license.
  • Item was Academic Version. Illegal sale as I am not a student. Not described!
  • Product was said to be commercial license but was educational license.
  • They sold me academic software, but did refund my money

if that doesn’t concern you - the education price listed for Adobe Illustrator at adobe is $199.

Can anyone recommend any other cheaper software for Tracking images in Vector Format ?

Try inkscape: http://www.inkscape.org/doc/tracing/tutorial-tracing.html

I thought you read the reviews of the ebay seller, those were taken directly from them, the negative and neutral ones. I didn’t see the license type anywhere mentioned, but you’d have to assume, after reading those, that the seller is indeed selling the academic/educational license and not the commercial license, which makes it illegal for you to use, and garners a huge profit for him. If that doesn’t concern, then you can “safely” buy there.

Also, you asked for a cheaper software, Inkscape is superior in many ways to other commercial software.

But if you’re looking for commercial software alternatives, you might want to look at the products offered by Corel Draw.

I found something else in my bookmarks, never used it so I can’t comment: http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/drawplus/index.asp
