I am looking to purchase the full version (win) of Dreamweaver CS5. I was doing a little Googling over the last month to find out if there are any software resellers with good deals on CS5. So I came across one particular company, with really low pricing. Their web site looks legit, and they also havea toll free number. But I am suspicious of the low prices.
<snip>
Search for Dreamweaver CS5, or even the entire CS5 suite, and note the prices. If they are selling legitimate licences and the only difference is that you don’t get a boxed version, I would buy for sure. But I’m wondering.
Before some of you start with the “if it’s too good to be true…” line, please have a look at the site and observe for yourself.
Some of the WHOIS info smells fishy. The same registrant has registered 195 domains (mass registrations can indicate suspicious behavior), and some domains are either duplicates of oemza or very similar.
Definitely a scam. And you’d be much much better off learning how to hand code XHTML/HTML and building a better site, than relying on something like DW.
^ It doesn’t take much to set up a toll free number. I highly doubt that the picture of the building on their “About Us” page is actually legitimate. They might be leasing one little office IN that building.
I would do some more research on that address and see what it actually is.
Thanks guys, if this is indeed a scam then these guys who operate such sites are pretty bold and would represent what I think is the epitome of software piracy. They have toll free numbers and and advanced payment system, they look like they are in it for big business.
It’s dodgy. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=www.oemza.com
References to malware and all sorts.
I’ve seen an identical looking site from a link in another thread looking at hijacked sites - it’s a scam and spam, don’t even contemplate it.
Of course it’s a scam, there’s tonnes of them on the web, I’ve always maintained that if the price listed is lower than Amazon, it’s guaranteed to be a bad purchase.
And so far, I’ve been proven right every single time. Quite unfortunate for Adobe how many illegal resellers there are of their stuff on the web.
It is nothing but a scam. When you purchase something just look for the authenticity of the seller not just the price. It is good that you have experience and was skeptical about it.
