I recently became a Google Adwords Certified Individual and I’d like to start shifting my income away from web design and more into the PPC account management arena. Currently there aren’t any other individuals certified within 100 miles of my location and none of the local ad agencies (that I can tell) are promoting PPC as a service. I’d like to offer my services to them as a sub-contractor but I’m unsure how to set up my pricing so that both myself and the ad agency can make a decent profit.
Can anyone share their insight with PPC subcontracting or maybe even how you charge for PPC account management? I’m really struggling with this and can’t find much info about this.
I’m not the best person to answer this, as I don’t have much experience in this area. But I see you have worked as a web designer. I would have thought that you can charge for PPC consultancy on the same basis as for freelance web design, which is usually on a time-and-materials basis. But given that PPC skills are less common, the actual hourly or daily rate would probably be higher.
As for the rate itself, that would depend on which country or region you are in. In general, remuneration rates vary greatly in different parts of the world, so no-one here will be able to suggest a figure without knowing at least which country you are in.
Hi Mikl,
Thanks for your input. I was able to find a couple of generic pay-per-click contracts on the web and just adjusted the pricing to something I was comfortable with while allowing the contractor to still make a decent profit.
I figure this is probably the best place to start. If the work load becomes too much or the contractor is charging significantly more than my fee, then I can always renegotiate.
