I’ve heared that experienced webmasters avoid Godaddy like the plague because they have slow servers.
As by my experience their control panel is cluttered and hard to find things on. The last time I checked, they do not offer shell access, so if you need that, look for other providers. By the way their customer service is horrible.
there is little frustration with godaddy
Yes, I just registerd Domain Name from Godaddy. And not used their host!
I had to deal with godaddy a few times in the other week or so….arrrgh…
A drupal install doesn’t work… says I need SQL 6 ok… but the only button that shows up is (up grade your hosting for more money).
So I call (No live chat) sit on hold…have to go here and there push some obscure drop down button SQL 6
I never would of found this on my own… why can’t they just put the button there by “you need SQL 6” in stead of “spend more money”
Lost 40 minutes.
Wordpress install client lost passwords you need 3 different passwords to host Wordpress why? I don’t know this is not the case for any other host I deal with and it doesn’t seem to be an issue.
2-phone calls wait on hold Lost 40 minutes.
Godaddys SQL database set up is a pain to use and it always takes and extra 10 minutes to set up a DB and link it to a site.
10 minutes lost per site DB.
I need to forward and email account has a button buy forwarding after 5 minutes I find the free forwarding with email plain.
10 minutes lost.
EVERY time I have to deal with godaddy it is problems and lost time.
I have to bid jobs higher know if a client has godaddy for the extra time and problems I deal with.
The whole site is laid out so baddy and the pages load so slow then with the multiple passwords and hidden buttons and them trying to sell you something at every turn… the worst hosting I have to deal with…
A normal 10-minute job on a host with cpanel will take 30-90 minutes on godday.
I tell client to get other hosting when they have godaddy and if they have to much already invested I have to charge them and extra 50$ to cover my time to deal with it.
I have read plenty of bad reviews on GD too. For domain registration, GD is good but for web hosting they are crap. One thing though, they are huge partly due to their intensive marketing.
I use aplus and wouldn’t trade them for nothing. I hate calling godady when I have used them years ago and needing support and their trying to sell you on a service instead of helping you.
Godaddy are well known for domain name registration services.
But there are still many issues for the Windows hosting plan. {snip}
I have several web site at godaddy and haven’t until now.
Never keep all your eggs in one basket.
Find a reputable domain registrar,
and then host with a reputable hosting company.
I wouldn’t use godaddy specifically because you have to pay extra to host multiple domains.
avoid shared hosting, look out for web hosts with clustered hosting.
I had to deal with godaddy again this week (for $50 extra that I have to charge/Not worth it…)
So I changed the name on a hosting plain 4 days latter I go to upload the site and the ftp doesn’t work, so I call… again as usual.
They said the changes are still “Propagating” so changes at godaddy have to “Propagate”? for days?
Always problems with Godaddy.
Poor support. That’s what I have always come across when people talk about Godaddy. They are really just good for domain registration.
I didn’t like them either.
I completely agree with johnnylingoman! Even I had been repenting some time back for having a couple of my websites hosted on their server. GoDaddy sucks!!
I have used GoDaddy’s hosting for more than 1 years ,it is’nt any problem.
Love their registrar service, and have heard nothing but frustration from their hosting service. Even their VPS hosting services are unstable!
Recently I’ve noticed a few downtimes… maybe I should switch host. Anyone know a good cheap host for wordpress blog?
never go for godaddy… I had pretty bad experince with them… you can register domain but no hosting…
you are right i also have account on godaddy and after getting 30 database connections simultaneously it shows 505 error message
