I am a Programmer / IM (strong side is programming still a newbie with IM).
I have a site at http://www.appharvester.com that gets about 30-50 views a day that is mostly from search engine traffic. I do have a facebook page and a twitter account for it.
What are some other ways to bring more traffic to it?
Also what ways are there to monetize it without being too overwhelming because I do want it to be a service first.

To get more traffic from Search Engine, you probably need more content. Everyday updates are what Google is looking for. Along with expanding your content, make sure your backlinks increase as well.

I dont know what your site is about but yes, keywords and relevancy have a lot to do with it - the relevancy of content and quantity of it as well. Don’t overdo though, you might get blacklisted.
Along with that, you should make a presence on Social Media like Facebook, Yelp and whatever else is relevant to your line of work. Down the road, you can do adwords and stuff too if you want to spend some money.
Otherwise, stick to SEO and you can always google your way into the details and tutorials of SEO. It would take some time but you wont be spending any money and you should have results.
